I think it would be fun if the Tactical X4s are like Rainbow 6's Nitro Cell. Acts like a grenade but with maybe half the range or like Reaper's claymore. That way you don't need to run to a wall, place it then run away from the blast zone but then your demolisher is out of actions.

Reaper Claymores should be like the real-life verson where you deploy it but it shoot shrapnel in a cone like the Shredder gun Heavy weapon that you have to set the direction for 1st.

Out of curiosity, will this be updated for WotC? The only reason I ask is because not all of the mods for XCOM 2 are going to be updated and will remain for the nonWotC expansion. Not trying to pry, just wanted to ask a question. :/

@Warmach1ne32 I've successfully had enemies patrol into them while concealed. So I guess ambushes is one way.

I find the best use for environmental damaging weapons is actually in defense missions, such as Haven defense missions. Lock a building or corner down, use the explosives to destroy any plausible cover that can be utilized by advancing enemy forces.

Does anyone have any tips on how to effectively use this in-game? I've tried setting it as traps for reinforcements but I they always move away enough to not get caught in the blast. Now I'm using them mainly to blow up walls in buildings for entry.

Looks like the .ini allows you to turn off breaking concealment. And some other interesting things.

okay now i read the description says triggering will break concealment. So the ingame description says it do not break concealment.

Phantom you can change that yourself in xcomx4 in the config file for the mod under c4_range I'm guessing..

can you make C4 able to throw at least for 2-4 tiles. That would be great. Often i stuck in enemy sight range for breaking concealment. I think that would be more balanced, because i have never a chance to place it. :D

UPDATE: Changed trigger explosives to break individual concealment because squad concealment breaks a buggy.
You can set bBreakIndividualConcealment = false in the config file to not break concealment at all.

I have a similar problem from the one Lord Yanaek mentioned. The Soldier detonating the charge remains concealed, though the rest of the squad is revealed, INCLUDING a ranger with the Phantom skill which is supposed to keep him concealed no matter what any other squadmate does, including running into detection range, opening fire, etc.

I am running true concealment mod but I am not running LW2, so this problem is an issue with vanilla as well.

Would appreciate it if you could fix this somehow.

Something is wrong with concealment when using this mod in LW2 (didn't test in Vanilla).
I planted some C4 then called for evac and it didn't break concealment. The when i actually triggered the C4 all the squad was revealed except the soldier who actually triggered it.

I don't have true concealment or any other mod that affects concealment and never noticed this before testing this mod.

i increased the start radius to 10, then you can plant outside of a building, and at a safe distance blow it, which will damage aliens inside, and give a good field of fire for your team from the outside with no cover.

@Musashi, I think I found a bug. I'm running LW2 and True Concealment.

1) Running a solo mission.
2) I placed a x4.
3) I activated the x4 (free action).
4) The system shows that the soldier was revealed but the soldier remains concealed.
5) Any pod within sight activates and moves towards soldiers.
6) I throw the call sign Firebrand and the soldier remains concealed.
7) I hack and the soldier remains concealed.

You can use a mimic beacon to lure enemies in or plant it with anyone who has phantom and also has conceal like a rogue mod class or from awc, in case you get seen.

use true concealment and scout around. Or have you guys lay the bomb in an area of lots of high cover, with your team waiting back, and get their attention with the bomb layer, and run back that way, most likely they'll take cover near the bomb ;)

@Moola that's exactly what happens to me too. I can't get close enough without being detected and if I do they will kill my soldier before being able to detonate. Even if I do manage to place it and go away the enemies have already moved before being able to trigger it, I don't think I know what the correct way to use it is

My experience with using these explosives is I will move a concealed soldier up to some enemies, place the bomb, then next turn they kill my soldier before I can detonate the bomb because. The enemies ussually move out of range of the bomb before killing my soldier too...

No the explosives are more powerfull than grenades. The drawback is you have to place it manually. @Mirror B_i

For some reason setting off the c4 is revealing soldiers that are supposed to remain concealed when the squad is revealed (and they are not the one using the c4 but the c4 user is staying concealed)

[LW2] Just created an X4 item, and it looks to have a third ability thats missing all of its text
