The looking backwards is controlled by a pose parameter, not a gesture animation. And even through manually running a constant think hook to force the survivor to look backwards, the client doesn't care and will still render the normal broken pose parameter for facing forwards. So this is building up to be something only Valve can fix.

Tried an unsuccessful attempt a long time ago in this thread, gave up on it from feeling like it's another client-side bug that just can't be either fixed or smoothly overwritten by a different system.

speaking of L4D1-y fixes i just found out that incapped survivors used to accurately point their body to where they were aiming. is that something you might be able to restore in L4D2?

L4D1 doesn't stop the player from switching weapons while reviving too and the animation didn't get interrupted by default so this technically counts as a L4D1-y fix. Even without that in consideration, it's a minor thing overall whether you can switch weapons or not as you revive.

I allowed the item switching as a safer method so in case something goes wrong and the animation isn't canceled, it would at least only have the animation play a bit more instead of making you unable to switch items at all.

To be honest, rather than changing items so that animations aren't canceled,
it seems more realistic to prevent survivors from switching items mid-rescue.

It feels like Valve intended the ability as compensation for the survivor bots being dumb, similar to Charger bots cutting all damage to them by half when charging. I'm not enthused enough to make such a mod yet to cancel the progress interrupting for now.

Since bot can get you up without being disrupted by any common infected hitting the downed survivor, why can't us player do it :)

I recall some times where the healing animation is canceled at the start of the animation where some gesture happens to play at the same time healing is initiated. Of course switching weapons/items cancels the entire action so it's not as commonly triggered as the revive interrupt.
It hasn't been fixed by this mod as of now.

@Olde I remember skysky already made that mod. You can check his mod collection. But the thing is that mod already integrate default convar for revive duration wicis 5 seconds, so if you want to change that like 2 seconds revive, you might have to manual edit the mod.

Long shot of an ask, but is it possible to make a script where you don't get interrupted when attempting to revive a downed survivor? That way we don't have to go idle to make sure the bot can pick up the survivors unimpeded when hit. Just if you're able to.
