@Camping_Zone I'm not sure I understand, this mod doesn't touch map size. If you're talking about the coverage of the moon, You can't change that and I'm not sure if I'm able to give players the ability to change it. Haven't tried to find a way I'm pleased with yet.

Is there a way to change the asteroids mapsize? changing it and initialmapsize in the save doesnt seem to work

@Hydra I had no issue with it loaded(though landing is another story). You may want to send a bug report to either the LAO or SOS team

I actually dont think they are compatible I attempted to start a new game with Lao Luna and Sos2 present and the game exploded. Removed Lao and everything works fine

Great mod! Rather than a new biome why not a separate kind of moon where a normal survivable biome can spawn like a desert or grassland

You need to patch the scenarioDefs. In my mods folder you'll see a NoLAO folder that has the patches being used. tag and layer need to match, settingsDef should match.
This made me find out I never patched the odyssey scenario so thanks for that.

Actually, a moon starting scenario is very easy to do. But a living on the moon scenario? That's where the difficulty comes in. That all boils down to making some cool landmarks appear on the moon. Giving you something to survive with and explore.

I've got the gist of a scenario already. 3 pawns emerge from a crash landed shuttle. They get a shuttle engine they can't exactly use, a couple dozen survival meals, and maybe some pistols or something for survival.

@mëghr I think something more important to prioritize is making it possible to start on the moon. Other than that, I think this mod belongs as more of a well-decorated biome mod.

The way my code is set up it won't duplicate. Actually, I've been shipping my framework with the mod. I'll think about making the framework it's own mod though.

@mëghr quests are cool and all, but that involves making them. I need to get everything else working good before I even think about quests

Won't that lead to a bunch of duplicate code? And then if anyone else wants to make planets, they'll also need to duplicate code, leading to a horribly fragmented codebase?

It would make sense to create a framework that adds all these underlying features, and then addons on top which create new celestial bodies.

Oh you don't have to worry about that, My cheese moon will be a completely separate mod. It'll share the same code underneath but otherwise there's no relation between the two

Fair enough, but I suggest making a framework for this sort of mod so that every orbital body added in the future isn't a sudden update to this mod that people may have not wanted, or possibly incompatible with this mod.

We'll see if I get back to you on the terrain generation.

@StockSounds I just tried spawning a dozen moon tiles with Real Ruins and they all had stuff in them. Aside from an error coming from Real Ruins (which may be my fault but I need to verify) I didn't encounter anything like what you said so if you can send me a log that would be appreciated.

I hope nobody ends up using this mod as a framework. I just kept throwing stuff into it until it worked lol. Regarding requiring the Johnson Tanaka engine I'd rather not. However I do need to work on the approach getting to the moon. My current method doesn't always work.

also I'm getting a bug where about 50% of all moon tiles are completely empty aside from craters and ancient fences.
My guess is that the Real Ruins mod is to blame, it usually is, but I can look into it more later, I just wanted to make sure this isn't intentional or something.

Whenever someone here uses this mod as a framework to make a multi-planet system, can you make it so that the Johnson Tanaka engine is required for planetary travel, like how it's usable on a gravship in this mod?

Mid-content update!
Fixes to mid-game planet generation. Currently it doesn't connect to orbit, but it doesn't try creating a conection from surface to surface anymore either.
Updated descriptions to actually be relevant.
Added moon grass. Might Remove but debating how I feel about it for now.
Removed water spawning on the maps.
Fixed half the moon not spawning resources

Also I discovered that yes, SOS2 will work with this. However, it looks like SOS2 ships can't land on top of craters provided by odyssey. So it will be difficult for them to land

@Dustin Echoes Yeah I gotta update that and a couple other descriptions. I'm stuck on if I should allow car frames and such on the moon though. The main difficulty is removing them involves removing everything that spawns with them. I'll probably replace them but it involves making custom structures so the moon isn't just a giant empty rock.

@法弥雅修德 It should work. If you get errors when loading send me a log. If you are using "layered atmosphere and orbit" be sure to enable the moon in settings.

I'm kinda halfway there already. Two moons, custom events and such on them already. Making other planets though is a bit much for me. I don't have enough creativity to make and populate multiple planets lol

simulate a solar system >_> if you ever if ever get to the point of your other worlds having multiple biomes I'd think you strike gold even harder.

you already have factions and the like appearing on the moon. that detail would be amazing. but again your mod is awesome as is.

And if we follow the analogy with the Discworld, then on the Moon you can also have silver grass with fire-breathing dragons grazing on it (boomzard produces more chemical fuel than boomalops)
