I would suggest that you do the following.
First, look at the image file that is associated with the mod. Turn anything you don't want invisible in that image file.
Next, make all numbers related to positioning for the UI elements negative in the code files. Minus 1 should do. X is horizontal. Y is vertical. Then, one by one start making the numbers positive and checking how much they move. If I remember correctly, the position numbers are relative. This means that if you figure out what is the max width, which could be something like 10, then you know that making a value 1 will put that UI element right at the left or top edge, and 9 would put it on the right or bottom edge.
Play around a little and see what you can come up with.
However, all come with drawbacks, Thankyou, however this one ruins the immersion (ofc the game misses it by itself to begin with) by the green health bar. Id also like to remove the whole stuff on the right, except for the time and money, which need to be somewhere else then, though, otherwise it would look like ugly,
The white text, which has already been discussed, might be best changed to a dark gray tone.
I think on 16:9 screens the ui looks best when moved to the corners. Compact does this, but the main char top left is a no go for the reach.
the absolute best would be a very flat, horizontal health-bar ui on the screen bottom. The game just looks so much better with less and only functional/pretty ui
Not meant to offend. Maybe someone has similar experience. Peace out
Yeah I got GIMP ready for .dds changes
Yeah I more or less just changed the Color XML.. or replaced it with default XML
I also deleted that white tin you had added "haha..." To Inventory/items.
Just be simply replacing it with orginal file. As I did not see any major changes in there.
But again very thankfull for all the aid, it's gold worth.
The text colors however are in the .xlm file. I can't remember which one does which, and some text is shared by two colors. As an example, there is text that has a different color as a first bracket in a sentence, and then the color changes in the second brackets or something like that.
I was lazy and changed everything to white, and then tried to find which ones needed to be a different color, and then I didn't change the rest back, which I probably should do at some point but it's not bothering me that much.

Had like 150 mods, down to like 50 now by merging and optimizing them.
But do you have a tip for the colors?
Been trying to same method but color do not change *hmm*
And the values also look quite the same so why the diffrent color.
Do they choose color pallet from a place?
Thanks again
BTW, be sure to make a backup of your own edited file, since every time I update this mod, the file will get overwritten and you don't want to repeat the same thing over and over again. I have some changes coming up that I was unsure of but now have gotten used to so I will probably leave them in the mod and upload it the next time I get a chance. If you've done some other changes it's best to create a backup of those as well. Although the change is relatively simple to make, it might become annoying to do it every upload.
I was editing in the wrong tab and the wrong line.
Copied default squad window text and pasted into your mod.
Plug and play... Just need to edit the right one.. lol Therefor no "effect"

Now I am gonna enjoy some less UI
Yeah I tried to do something similar but had no "effect" But I will give it another try.
Thanks!
This should get you started, although it might be a little complex to try and do if you don't happen to have any experience with this type of stuff. If you do, it can be a hassle to find the correct numbers to change and I think this is usually where a modder comes in to do the work of figuring out which is which. I've been updating all my mods for a while now, so I forget the exact last thing I have done when I move on to the next one, but I think these instructions should be relatively accurate.
You can move the numbered mod folder into the Kenshi /mods folder and change the name to Stripped UI and then begin editing.
You can open up a file in the mod folder called gui/layout/Kenshi_MainPanel.layout
Also open a file of that same name in the same path in the Kenshi/data folder.
In those files, use search to find name="SquadPanel">
Now you can copy the four number on the left side of this text from the data folder and paste them on top of the mod file. If that isn't enough, you can take a lot more of the text and paste it in over the text in the other file. This is the easiest way to revert this change.
You can also copy the entire file original file in the data folder, and paste it over the entire mod file, so that all the changes are reverted, and then you can look around to see if you want to change things to your liking.
I think today I am going to be AFK for most of the day. I can however try to give you a hand in making the edits.
The font color is a remnant of me trying to find which font was which and I was too lazy to revert them one at a time, but it has to be done at some point.
Green is good IMO.
Kenshi has an over all washed down coloer pallet, I suggest no going to far off that.
Makes your colors feel "fake"
I even noticed when I was lanching the game that the Menu font colors were also changed.
Nothing wrong in that, but again I suggest getting an more off-white color.
Easier on the eyes over hours of game play.
Really hope you can take give it a try, becuase I really want to use your mod.
Health bar color is okay to me. but if you want to you can lower it the same amount, but not a must.
Thanks again for the work you put in!
The UI looks quite good, But are you able to increase the squad window sizes? or made a addon to the mod.
Because if you can make the squad window like 10 long (now 7) and increase the size.
Because right now for me they are so tiny. After you add 4 people to a squad they shrink like mad.
Like: "Stripped UI with BIG squad windows. or something.
Because the squad UI is to me the only thing I use alot. min-managing now I have a hard time clicking them.
PS: Like others have said. Maybe recolor the skeleton health bars to a diffrent color away from "living" things
Thanks!

Then you can go to your steam workshop folder and find the Dark UI mod. All the folders are numbered, so you'll have to go through them and first find Kenshi, and then find the correct mod. In that mod folder, it probably has the same path, but it will definitely have the same name as the vanilla file mentioned above.
You can copy the vanilla file and save it as a backup. Then you can open the Dark UI file in paint, copy the things you like, and paste them into the vanilla file on top of the things you want to change. This explanation is more complicated that it the actual process. basically it's a copy paste kind of job so long as you find the files.
I can tell you how to do it and it's actually pretty simple since it doesn't even need the editor! ->>
I tried to mix them with your UI but I don't really know how. If you can manage to merge them with your work it will be perfect.
Your original work was great and I think we should go back to the previous version. I was just rambling for more vivid colors on those areas, just not that much. Of course, you are the author and you have the final say. I still appreciate you taking the time to listen to me.
I think at least the red when being attacked is a great idea that shouldn't take too long.
I find the font to be fine as I personally have no issue reading it. If it can be edited or changed by a font mod, then I see no problem.
