Can we get a list of the names?

Thank you for this mod, I named my kid "Stinks" in honor of this but he seems to hate me now, I dont think he Kenshis.

It seems some more names were added to the vanilla names lists that aren't in this. Here they are for anybody interested in adding these to the .txt files of this mod if you are using it:

wherever your Steam folder is\Steam\steamapps\common\Kenshi\data\

And there's three text documents called namesM, namesF, and namesMF. Generic names are contained within. namesM is male-only names, namesF is female-only names, and namesMF is unisex-names.

Ex:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kenshi\data\namesMF

As a content creator, how would I modify this so that I can use the names of my viewers as names in game?

do i need to import after installing?

more names are great, makes duplicate names less common yet many people share names in the real world so duplicates are not bad per se

@PhoenixOfEastBlue: You can only use one mod changing the random names at a time or you have to merge them manually. This is due to the fact that all names are stored in three text files, which are replaced by each of these mods.

Does this conflict with kenshi kaizo's random name giver?

@Frank, no. It just expands the possible name pool for any NPC that currently gets a name. You'll need a mod like this to additionally expand who gets a name.

Does this mod add names to hostile npc's as well like dust bandits,staving bandits etc?

@xym the duplication of the M/MF/F files is in Vanilla, as is the two "Fuus". Kenk and Ukib seem to have been pulled twice out of the ether by me jamming out all the new names. Funny. Doesn't seem to throw things off - playing for 4 years since I released this I've never encountered a "Kenk" or "Peace" in game. Still I'll tweak it when I get time. The MF list seems mainly used for hivers (and maybe skeletons?), so I think the devs duplicated much of the M and F lists into it to allow some hivers to have 'human' names.

There are some duplicate names in these, not sure how Kenshi handles those but might cause certain names to show up more often than others. Male: "Kenk", Female: "Fuu". There's also duplication towards the MF file. I assume names that are listed in MF will be used for both male and female, so is it necessary to have those names in the regular file as well? Leaf, Peace, Glass and Ukib, are in both F and MF. Skinner, Dirt, Bark, Soto, Sand, Double, Ank, Weg are in M and MF.

I reimported, then closed the game, and then loaded again. I immediately saw two drifters named Hotlongs. So I think that did the trick

Uninstalling, any already spawned character will keep their names. But importing flushes all those spawned characters and respawns them with new randomized features (incl names). People you have recruited will keep their names though. You mean after uninstalling, and importing, you are seeing hiver (and only hiver) recruits in bars with names from here? That shouldn't be working like that. What are the names? You can check in Kenshi/Data/NamesMF.txt to see if they're vanilla names. 99% sure all hiver names come from that unisex list, but they may pull from NamesM.txt and NamesF.txt too.

Does uninstalling and reimporting not affect any NPC's already spawned into the world? I see tons of hiver recruits with names from the mod even though I uninstalled it

@yourpleb Yep! All characters that already have names keep them (including bar flies from bars you've visited), any new characters that come up will start pulling from the enlarged list.

is this mod compatible with a save that didn't have mods before? sorry, new to kenshi

Guys. I'm obviously not going to put real world current (or dated) buzzwords into the mod for the lolz. This is a Kenshi mod for Kenshi people. We'll have no trouble here. Stop being silly.

@thundenn Please keep your panties untwisted as this is a game with many nods to politics in either a joking fashion directly or indirect little jabs. If the name covfefe makes you put down the game I think you have many more issues than your lack of an affinity towards politics.

Please keep IRL politics out of a public mod please... if you want to add 'covfefe' or 'libtard' as names into this game, do it yourself... not everyone is American either...
