AAM Caspian-Class Frigate Mk. III Mod 2

Description
This is my modification to the Caspian-Class Frigate!
Will add more pics soon!

Get Dwarf-Lord Pangolin's original ship HERE!

Note: It has been brought to my attention that this ship is not very survival friendly in terms of the main gun. This issue has been resolved and is pending release. Get a sneak peek HERE! :)

Features
  • Shield Peircing Gravity Cannon (Not very survival friendly)
  • Forward Mounted Rocket Launchers x6
  • Point Defence turrets x6
  • Gatling Turrets x18
  • Rocket Turrets x8

My Modifications
  • Reverse Thrust Cluster: Allows the pilot to toggle on/off all thrusters that slow forward motion
  • Improved Projection Torpedo System: Both torpedos now properly deactivate mass blocks once out of the firing chamber allowing the torpedos to pass through gravity shields unaffected
  • Improved Firing Chamber: Firing chamber composed almost entirely of blast door blocks. This eliminates the possibility of the torpedos damaging the firing chamber during the fire sequence
  • One-button Fire System: Two torpedos are constructed and fired automatically at the press of one button (the [1] key on the ship toolbar)
  • Reduced Profiles: Minimized the top and side profiles as much as possible. As a result, the ship is quite a bit lighter and more agile during flight. This combined with its reduced dimensions will make it harder for an ememy vessel to target the Caspian
  • Hangar Restructured: Hangar now opens downward as it was deemed too dificult (for me at least lol) to back in to the hangar with a small ship. Now pilots can land their small craft without needing to reverse into the hangar.
  • Included Fighter Changed: Replaced the AAM Falcon with a modified AAM Kite. The modified Kite is less wide than the stock version to permit it to land in the Caspian's hangar. Also has more firepower and armour than the Falcon allowing for more damage potential.
Tips and Tricks
  • It is recommended that you do not try to reach top speed with this vessel, the piston tends to have a mind of its own over speeds of 80 m/s
  • When firing the main cannon, turn off inertial dampners. This is so that the projectiles don't collide with the ship durng firing.
  • For landing the Kite, it is advised that you turn off the main thrusters and utilze the landing camera ([8] on the toolbar) to line up with the connector. Using the camera, line up your crosshair on the bottom of the two connector lights (See third to last screenshot) and decend until the light turns green.
  • Disable inertial dampners on the Kite before locking the connectors!
  • When undocking the Kite, turn off the Kite's connector ([7] on toolbar) to prevent the Caspian's large connector from attracting your ship back to docking position

If you have any questions/concerns feel free to post them :D

PS: Oh and I changed the color scheme to maroon and dark grey (which came out as black :/ ) because I'm an Aggie :)

Here we go! This one works amazingly well! Wooo! Thanks for pointing me in this direction, I was sad but now I'm happy! Destruction awaits!

@Zuribachi: I was considering that, but my main concern is the tendency for rotors to randomly explode at the worst times lol! (The piston door on the hagar is already quite finicky as is) And knowing me, I'd forget every time and shoot it right off. :P In theory, the point defence turrets are placed near the nose to try and mitigate that threat (hopefully they make it so turrets can actually hit missles). I'll play with the design a little though :)

I loved the Caspian since I first saw the original. Your new version doesn't change this at all. You're making awesome use of the new updates. I like the new, shorter design and the way to fire it. I got one basic idea: How a bout a rotor-based door for the torpedo launcher? That way, one enemy missile / torpedo wouldn't turn the combat-capabilities of the Caspian completely out

:D Thanks! I recently had to make a reduction on the dual firing capability of the torps due to concerns brought to my attention by DarkExcalibur.
I didnt take into account how this would work in survival lol and he reminded me of that:
This is the result of my tinkeing

I have to say that this looks better than the original, for a number of reasons, but I particularly like your decision to change the wing shape, and mightily approve of your reduction of the underside of the forward section (no need for the old, giant ammo box with the blueprint-based ammo!) The docking camera on the Kite is awesome too.
