Wolf Extraction Quest

Description
Regarding Future Updates for B42
Updating the mod is under consideration. The time commitment is substantial, and to be honest, i've found it somewhat demotivating to invest a significant amount of time (time taken away from my family) in this project and not see adequate recognition. It's particularly disheartening/sad when a couple of side AI images get more attention than the mod itself.

With nearly 270,000 subscribers, I've received a lot of positive feedback in posts and comments, which I truly appreciate. However, a single, solitary donation and seeing so much attention on superfluous details (sometimes with offensive comments), makes me ask myself if it's worth the effort to continue.

Sorry for the rant, it's a sad day for other reasons too...maybe i'll likely update the mod anyway (it's something I've put a lot of work into), but in the meantime, if you're able to support (in any way) my work, I would be very thankful.

A configurable endgame quest/mission/challenge.

You stare at the map in your hands, tracing the lines with your finger... the dying man had pressed it into your palm, his last gift to you.
He had whispered about an extraction point, where a helicopter would come to save you. But you needed a military walkie talkie to call the pilot.
You feel a pang of sadness, knowing that the man who gave you the map would never see you make it to safety... but you steel yourself for the dangerous journey ahead.
You fold the map carefully and tuck it into your pocket, ready to begin.

You got a map and an extraction point.
You have to find a military walkie talkie to call the helicopter.
Now you have a mission.
A hope.
A reason not to give up.

You can:
  • Set the maximum number of days to reach the extraction point (or disable it)
  • Select the extraction zone (5 points in Louisville, 2 in Muldraugh, 1 in March Ridge, 1 in Rosewood currently) or pick it randomly.
  • Select also the extraction zone in modded maps (antenna needed): 1 in Raven Creek currently
  • Set the duration of the final extraction event... more hours, more zombies! (You know what happens when a helicopter flies over you, right?!)
  • Set the number of days to wait before the radio signal needed to call the helicopter becomes active (or disable it)
  • Choose how many repeater antennas (advanced antenna item) you must build (and activate in repeater mode) in various places of the map to get enough radio signal strength (or disable it)
  • Set the multiplier to the chance of finding mod related items in the loot of zombie bodies
  • Choose if you must stay near the extraction point during the entire duration of the extraction event (Confined Mode)
  • Choose the final extraction event difficulty multiplier (see notes)
  • Already start with the item needed for the extraction (military walkie talkie)
  • Choose if the quest will NOT be active at the beginning and can only be started after building/using the antenna (Extended Quest Mode)
  • Contact the headquarter using the antenna to request a new extracion zone

Notes
  • The difficulty of the final event is only indicative and can change a lot if there are zombies nearby.. so it is highly recommended to clean up the area first.
  • The item needed to call the helicopter is the vanilla military walkie talkie, can generally be found in military chests.
I've added a small chance that it will be found in the bodies of soldiers and police forces.
  • Created and tested in singleplayer, for multiplayer in theory it should work, at least partially, but it is not guaranteed.
  • The advanced antenna (Electrical category of the crafting menu) can be used to contact headquarters and can also be activated in repeater mode to increase radio signal strength.
  • To reopen the extraction tracker gui right click in an empty space
  • A new save is required
  • English is not my native language, so please help me if any correction is needed, thank you

Changelog
18/08/2023
  • Added antenna repeaters. The goal is to satisfy even those looking for longer and more complex playthroughs. You will need to build and activate those repeaters around the whole map to reach the signal strength needed to call the helicopter or use the antenna (see screenshot). It's a fairly big chunk of code so if there's any bug, let me know.
  • Added sandbox option to set a multiplier to the chance of finding mod related items in the loot of zombie bodies.(walkie talkie, map fragment of repeater location, etc.)
  • Removed a test function that caused a bug with zombie cognition
  • GUI cleaning and improvement

16/07/2023
  • Added support for extraction zones in modded maps, they will only be selectable via antenna/headquarter. (or randomly at the start of the game if you choose a random zone)
If you want to create your own extraction points on modded maps you can find a commented file/guide here: https://pastebin.com/Yg7sMp52 and https://pastebin.com/kHfXDPnu
  • Added one extraction zone in Raven Creek (selectable via antenna/headquarter)
  • Added (experimentally) the extraction zone marker to the world global game map
  • Various fixes to maps and GUI
09/07/2023
  • Added the "Extended Quest Mode" sandbox option, in which you have to craft the antenna to start the quest.. the first step to make more complex and long playthroughs.
  • Added the antenna, a new craftable item which allow you to contact headquarter and request a new extraction zone or to start the quest if "Extended Quest Mode" sandbox option is active. In future this item and this mechanic will be used to allow you to choose extraction zones not in vanilla maps.
  • Added a new extraction zone in Rosewood Penitentiary. (be well prepared..)
  • Added the recipe to craft the extraction zone map
18/06/2023
  • Since it has been requested many times i have added a sandbox option that allows you to set the number of days to wait before the radio signal needed to call the helicopter becomes active.
After the signal is active, the deadline time (if set) will start, in this time it will be possible to call the helicopter.
  • Added the name of the extraction point in the extraction tracker gui and enlarged some fonts for better readability.
  • Fixed a bug that leads to the change of the extraction area at each login if the random extraction point has been chosen. [MULTIPLAYER]
(Of course if you choose a random extraction point in the server sandbox each player will have a different extraction point, so to share the same extraction point you need to choose a fixed one)
  • Fixed spawn of zombie only visible to one client. [MULTIPLAYER]
  • Fixed weather only clientside. [MULTIPLAYER]
  • Fixed Helicopter sounds audible only to the client that request the extraction. [MULTIPLAYER]

Do it if you love it, we'll play it if you do it (and donate if we can). ♥

I find it odd that people like @DeeKayy will say in one sentence "Mod's ego is getting in the way of an update" and then in the next, "mod is too good not to have". Very contradictory. Mod authors pour countless hours into providing FREE content for players to consume without a second thought. Saying rude things to authors and making demands of their free time is absurd, rude, and extremely egotistical.

If you love the mod, you should support the author if you can. At the very least, keep your negative and unsupportive comments to yourself.

I love this mod, don't stop and don't read those people who don't understand the circumstances of others

I wouldn't know cause I won't be playing it on B41 and I've not used the mod...if he updates it I'll try it.

Either way if he keeps crying about it all he's doing is making himself look like a child.

@mindthespectrum dude if you don't like it then why write an essay i mean he does have a right to complain after all he did make the mod. its like somebody asks you for support and instead you just shun them. in my personal opinion i believe the mod creator did a great job
