Description
Open any canned food with short and long-bladed weapon (even modded) or stone. No more need to carry a heavy can opener.

Features
  • Short blades (e.g. knives), long blades (e.g. machetes), stone can be used to open canned food in addition to a can opener.
  • Weapon might lose condition upon opening a can.
  • Your character might get injured.
  • Opened can will be poisonous if opened with bloody weapon or bloody hands (if used a stone).
  • Some food might be spilled.
  • Time required to open a can depends on a type of opener used.

Can Openers
Vanilla can opener and stone are always available. If you use a can opener everything will be like in vanilla.
Short blades become available if your character has Strength level 3.
Long blades become available if your character has Strength level 7.

Wouldn't recommend this mod, the idea of bloodied knives giving you food poisoning is a great idea, but it is implemented terribly due to the fact that the mod will ALWAYS prioritise knives over regular can openers, and so my short blade main just casually used their bloodied hunting knife to open a can instead of the actual can opener in their bag. Had to god mode that character temporarily to stop them from dying. Awful implementation of a genuinely great concept.

Do not use this mod. For some reason in doesn't use can openers even when you have them in your inventory or in reach. It has to be in your main inventory not in a bag or a can opener is ignored in favor of your bloody sword on your belt. This killed my 6 month old character that had 3k kills and lvl 5 mechanics and metalworking when the mod used my bloody sword to open a can instead of one of THREE can openers in reach, one in a fanny pack and two in the cupboard. Never had to look for a can opener anyway.

Braven's Common Sense makes this mod useless?

The prioritization of weapons over literal can openers is pretty obnoxious. I literally had a machete in my backpack and a can opener in my hand and the character still chose to go through the trouble of pulling out the machete. Not only that, food poisoning seems to be occurring regardless of a weapon being bloodied or not.

Seems weird and arbitrary that opening cans with a blade requires strength. If a little girl could open a can with a knife, surely this means the strength requirement is 0.

I'd rather made using a stone to open cans require strength, like 5 or something. And make it spill 50% of food regardless. Using short blades wouldn't spill it, but is guaranteed to damage the blade. Using long blades always spills the food, but the spill is less depending on long blade skill.
