Hollowknight: Silksong is a very challenging and at times punishing game, however. It truly has become one of if not my absolute favourite games out there! It's art style, music and atmosphere is everything from the first game and more!! When you discover a new location or a boss fight you can tell the amount of work and time put into making that place feel either in absolute aw or interested.

While I do think the game could be less punishing at times where you may have a long walk from a bench to the gauntlet/boss/whatever it may be. With that said, after getting through those sometimes painful parts of this game the sense of accomplishment is amazing especially when it helps progress towards the games story.

As someone who has played through the first Hollowknight and believed it to be one of the most amazing pieces of lore ever I can 100% say that Hollowknight: Silksong does not disappoint. I would say if you are looking into playing this game for its story and lore then it is an ABSOLUTE MUST that you complete the true ending to the first game in order to get everything out of this game. (By all means it is still an absolute masterpiece without doing such)

With that being said, this game is truly one of my absolute favourites of all time and is a must play for anyone interested in metroidvania style games with a decent challenge and in depth lore.
