The building is great, the combat is decent, the enemies are okay...that's about it, really. It's enjoyable enough to explore around, for me, the world is well realized enough, but what you DO within said world is just passable. It's better than some other games I won't valheim (if a tad on the easier and looser side for my tastes) but it REALLY falls short in a way that's not necessary. So that makes me think it will *probably* be fixed up to full release.

However, the one thing I absolutely adore about this game is how lived-in you can make your buildings feel. Building in this game is what maximum effort looks like, imo. The amount of assets that are present (including the block edges) is kinda nuts, and imo by FAR this game's best feature. Building a mansion is probably the most fun to be had here, and the end product feels really enjoyable.

All things considered, as-is now it's worth buying for the experience of walking around (both the game world and the wonderful houses you can make) but when it comes to either progression or combat it's just eh. Luckily, I hardcore fw both of those things while appreciating the (relatively) little there is in terms of combat so I'm happy to have got it.

Pretty good, but enemies felt like they had a little too many unblockable attacks. I couldn't see a time to parry past the later half of the level, which I wouldn't mind, but dodge-rolling makes it feel too souls-like so maybe if we had a quickstep instead?

Otherwise, just needs a spit and a shine and it's gonna hit the shelves like a freight train.

This game will introduce a handful of varied progression systems, all pretty satisfying, let you get the big numbers that make the happy chemicals go brrrr and then it ends. Absolute chad behavior.

Now listen, I'm not saying that my relationships are unhealthy but I AM saying that experiencing cycles of toxicity made me unreasonably attached to a nameless, eternally changing fictional character.

It's a bit of a tech demo that doesn't really mechanically come into itself, but it's a neat bite-sized chunk of lovecraftian walking sim.

The idea of using the AI neural reading thingy for eldritch visions was great, though it will probably feel gratuitous even to people who understand what it's supposed to mean. However, I enjoyed it well enough.

A fighting game with no CPU option or even a tutorial? Seriously? If you're like me and don't have a base in fighting games, you need to get a manual off guides and then go get your teeth kicked in in multiplayer games where the enemy combo-locks you from 100 to 0 to start enjoying it. And I can't recommend experiencing that, because I don't like it. The people asking for any form of a rating system or matchmaking are very correct.

Honestly I'd be remiss to not put this as a positive review after such a swift change to make it a full trial. I honestly have no trouble believing they'll turn out to have been right but hey, I hope if that is the case it's enough to convince others too that ironmace knew what they were doing. Personally I think it'd've been enough to limit normals to a green or blue-tier (or make a separate mid-roller game mode for this, idk) but otherwise I'm happy with the changes, I just wish the circumstances were less overtly hostile in the community. It was a shock to the loyal players and it felt like a rug pull for f2ps. I don't blame anyone for their reactions.

As of writing this, the game hasn't been working since a while after release. The same issue as back then, a crash to black screen. This is a completely unacceptable state of affairs. I have tried everything that came to mind (including following an 8-step process off the steam forums) and nothing worked. Right now, I basically have a broken product.

Edit: I fixed the problem by updating the .net framework. I am leaving the review as not recommended on account of this frustrating experience which I needed to fix as a consumer and, more importantly, so anyone else dealing with this problem might come across this solution.

A very tentative no. The game has a lot of pointless elements that I find frustrating (the ramp down to the mine being unlit, for example, the cart and the fact carrying it around is kinda pointless as anything but a cumbersome torch, BUGS) but at its core it took a mechanic that I've seen in other games and tied it into other mechanics that make it matter.

In its current state though, I find it too annoying to bother with. I have had two sessions so far, both of which ended in me needing to alt+f4 because the game broke.

This game has a demo, a very cheap price and a straightforward description. I literally can't do any better, but I'll give this review anyways because metrics and because I want to tell the dev they did a great job. They chose a solid gameplay loop, built on it, delivered, priced it accordingly to its value for the consumer and even released a demo. This kind of pro-consumer philosophy deserves to be lauded and it's cemented OMP as ones to look for.
