This game is absolutely frustrating and very unfair.

Love it 10/10!

I am a long time Bioware fan, I have played every game in their repertoire (yes including Jade Empire). As such I pumped hundreds of hours into the previous three DA games, having done two to four playthroughs per game.

When I started Veilguard I was let down, the vibe was very different from the dark, raw tone from the previous games. The other thing that sucked super, super much is how all decisions made in previous games have been wiped. It is still Thedas, but not the Thedas that I put hours into saving over three different games.

While the beginning of the game is a slog, it gets better over the course of the game. The companion quests of everyone but Taash are quite good (unlikeable, spoiled character). As I said though, the other companions develop quite well over the course of the story, which actually started to make me care about them later in the game.

The tone of the game is also absolutely off. There are dragons and magic in the game, but somehow the dialogue is the most unrealistic. One moment an entire city is destroyed and the next moment you are talking about the power of friendship getting you through it. It feels very weird, not something you would want in a role-playing game.

The final part of the game is absolutely amazing, the final missions are epic and have actual consequences for the your team and the mission's success (Mass Effect 2 style).

Separate from these things, the combat is really fun. Difficulty is tweakable as well so spongy enemies can be avoided, while still having them hit hard. I completed an 80 hour playthrough as a Spellblade Mage which was great fun.

So final verdict:

While it is still an enjoyable game, especially once you get through the first 5/10 hours of the game, Veilguard is not the Dragon Age I was hoping, or told it would be.

It should be illegal to make a game this good, this cheap.
Continuous updates over the course of thrree years have kept me coming back.

The most amazing game which you can only play once. Your understanding of the game is progression, you could technically finish the game in the first 20 minutes. Definite recommendation, just avoid spoilers at all costs and I strongly advice against using guides.

Black screen after Atlus logo on start up, tried everything I could find online. The game needs a patch.

The gameplay is boring and the optimization is bad as well. This game has ♥♥♥♥ framerate while it does not even have that good graphics.

A good way to give more money to an amazing developer who completely deserves it!

Great game and love the updates that are still coming out! For this low price it is definitely a must buy!
