Got it from a friend for Christmas. Good gameplay. Spooky. Encourages multiple playthroughs. Fun.

The world is fantastic, but the checkpoint system and balancing is awful. I don't know, maybe I'm just bad.

Just beat the game. I put the game down for a long time after getting to the last part of the game. (I seem to do this a lot with games.) I had to do some research for a memory jog on what the story is, but from what I read and what I could remember it's a very good story. Would definitely recommend if you're down for a spooky 8-bit experience. Cool characters.

A game is only as good as it's Dev team.

Below is a long (and probably uninteresting) tale about my struggles with the game and it's support team. I hid it for those of you who are just skimming.

As of me writing this, I'm currently working with the DBD support team. Every 3 or 4 games I play (sometimes more often) drops me out to the main lobby with nothing more than a "Disconnection from host" message. Their support, thus far, has been ridiculously terrible. It took them 3 separate emails back and forth to ask me to send them a file with information on the error.

I won't bore you with the details. Rest assured that not only is the Dev team completely unattached from the basic understanding of how people play their own game but also their support team is lacking knowledge of how it functions.

That being said, this game can be a blast with friends. Not as much fun by yourself. Be prepared to be constantly frustrated at the unbalanced and game breaking perks. Be prepared to face a community that is much less than friendly. Be prepared. queue Lion King music

Unless the support team pulls through, I'm refunding.

Early Access Review
Sailing around in my submarine
get caught by a "fleshgun"
basically tethers me to the gun until I disable it
get to figuring out how to disable it
finally do it
realize that I'm almost out of oxygen
"Oh wait, my tool I have equipped uses oxygen. I'll just switch that over real quick"
Dies instantly
switches to another crew mate
realizes that, upon trying to rescue the original guy, the submarine started moving again
stabilizes the submarine
loses track of the OG
FINDS OG by accident
he is looooong since dead
drag his corpse back onto the submarine
realizes that the tool I was using does NOT use Oxygen

Alright so I'm playing Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition and the following happens (beware spoilers):
- Make a male Orc fighter
- Explore a bit
- Fight and kill a big dude
- Find a belt
- Equip belt without checking what it does (didn't have an identify spell)
- Turns out to be a belt of genderbend
- 20+ hours later I have enough gold to comfortably fix my mistake at a temple
- Turns out it lets me take the belt off, but the change is permanent

Later on:
- Find a character called Neera
- Cool wild mage
- ♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ up in combat, but has a high chance to cast something unintentional in place of the original spell chosen
- I get a belt for her that drastically reduces the chance she accidentally turns herself into something random
- She starts coming on to me
- "Lets see how this character's relationship turns out"
- Turns herself into a squirrel, despite having the belt
- Can't dispel it because she was my caster

11/10 would recommend

I'm VERY tired while writing this review. This game is quite relaxing. Except for the one part with the scary snake guys.

This game is fantastic. There is a real cool message that is hard to miss, which lies on top of a layer of solid puzzle gameplay. Hard to figure out, but super easy and intuitive once you get into the flow of it. Would definitely recommend it if you like puzzle games and/or deep and thoughtful games.

Check it out!

Humble Bundle subscription.

This game is impossible. I started on the story with tutorial enabled and the tutorial slowed me down so much I was unable to keep up with the AI. It made me do things that seemed tactically inadvisable due to the traits of my spies. This might have been avoided if I was given a team for my first game. Instead I had to conscript people based on the cool factor of their stories, knowing nothing about how the game was played.

It also seems that the AI don't have to worry about terrorist threats as much as the player does. Whether or not anything IS happening, it doesn't feel like the AI interact with each other.

My second run seemed more successful, but I received fewer points at the end. I had a spouse both times and, if I run this game again, I'll try it without a spouse. They don't provide any benefit seemingly, and just accelerate the doom clock exponentially.

All in all, this game needs more balancing. Maybe I'm just bad, but, at the very least, this game has a steep learning curve. If you don't mind losing over and over again, knock yourself out. Otherwise don't bother.

I received this game in a Humble Bundle.

It's a good game, mechanics wise, don't get me wrong; However, watching others who are far better than you play makes the game feel so unachievable.

There is little to no direction in most of the levels. The ghost provides some idea, but it's much faster than a good portion of people who play this game. I got lost in later sections of levels because of this. Just simply not knowing where to go.

I am not very good at this game. Maybe you're better. Unless you're a platforming god, don't spend the money.
