I've been playing this off and on since before it was launched on Steam, and it's easily my favorite incremental game I've ever played. If you have any experience in coding in JavaScript, you'll love this. If you have any interest in programming in general, you'll love this. Highly highly recommend.

I usually don't leave a negative review if I have enough game time to equal the cost of that game. This is an exception, because quite frankly, I wish I had installed it long ago. I only played it at all because I received it as a gift. This game has the worst writing of any game I have ever played, full stop. Quite possibly the worst I've experienced in any media that purports to be professionally done.

To its credit, the game is beautiful and has excellent sound design (for some things). But it is soulless and empty. There is truly nothing here. I could complain and nitpick for hours on every failing but I don't want to give any more of my time to it and I will simply state that no one should purchase this game. I regret every minute I spent playing it and I likely made it as long as I did simply because I didn't have another game to fill my time.

Oh and you can put a suppressor on a minigun. Do with that information what you will.

There are a lot of souls like games these days, but from software is still the king. That being said, this is the best one not made by from software, and it isn't even close. It is absolutely wearing its inspiration on its sleeve and makes no apologies for it, but they've even managed to improve on some aspects. A lot of people compare it to Bloodborne, but that's just the surface level comparison. If you've played all the souls games, you'll quickly realize that this is far more similar to the original Dark Souls than Bloodborne in terms of pacing and structure.

This is absolutely a stellar game and I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a fresh perspective on a souls like.

Sometimes you can click on the other team but usually they click on you first and sometimes you can find boxes that accept visa/mastercard for a chance at a diet NFT and everyone says they like the clicking on other teams part but they really only play the game because of the shoeboxes full of diet NFTs.

Randomly realized I never reviewed this game. It's one of the greatest and most influential city builders ever made - it is the direct inspiration for countless village builders that have come after it. Even with how old it is, it is still fantastic and absolutely worth anyone's time if they're interested.

Early Access Review
I have been playing games for many years, and as I get older, I've seen my tastes become more and more narrow. Two genres that have seemed permanent mainstays are city builders and roguelikes. As countless others have already mentioned in their reviews, this is blending of both. To say that I wouldn't have expected this to work implies that I had even considered it as a possibility and would inherently discount the brilliance of the design. Not only does it work, but the pieces fit together so beautifully that it is shocking to me that it hasn't been done before.

It is also a fantasy themed city builder without combat elements of any kind. Again, I'm left wondering why such an obvious hole in the market has not been filled previously. Managing the needs and wants, advantages and disadvantages, etc. of fantasy themed races (which are also not copy-pasted elves or dwarves) is wonderful and brilliant.

I cannot recommend this game enough and I am so excited to see what it becomes over time.

While I do not personally regret my purchase, I don't believe I can recommend the game to others. I am glad that my money went to supporting an indie team with a beautiful idea. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what they do next.

Unfortunately, there simply isn't enough game here to encourage continued play. As others have mentioned, this is a puzzle game, not a city-builder. The puzzle comes from determining the order you put down the available buildings and where you put them to maximize surface area. At low difficulties, this becomes almost entirely irrelevant because you have plenty of resources and it's just about checking the boxes. At higher difficulties, mistakes will cause full scale deadlocks that may not even present themselves until the next phase. There's no troubleshooting or logistics management to try for a different solution to a puzzle, it is pure PASS or FAIL. Your only option is to simply restart on a new map.

There are some new mechanics or buildings introduced as you progress through the different biomes, but none of them really flip things up enough to encourage new methods or solutions. Every building is a puzzle piece that fits in exactly one part of the process. The maps may be procedurally generated, but they're small and they all blur together so none of them are significantly different in challenge or legitimate variety.

There is some real potential here and I truly am excited to see what might come next for this company. If you would like to experience a short puzzle game with a relaxing feel-good aesthetic, this might be perfect. But if you were looking for some replayablity and deep mechanics, this isn't going to be for you.

You don't really win, but sometimes you lose spectacularly.
