It's an impressive and enjoyable game, when you can play it. I've encountered multiple softlock and hardlock bugs that halt progress and send you on a hour long internet search for a fix or workaround. Alas, there are never fixes or workarounds, unless you're willing to mod the game or download UE5's console. I recommend finding and reading the Steam review left by the user {LINK REMOVED}. That player does a great job of listing some of the bugs, many of which he listed, I have encountered myself.

I cannot recommend the game. I am unable to complete the game to fully experience it due to the egregious game-breaking bugs.

I hadn't played a Dragon Age game besides a little bit of Inquisition. So I wasn't really sure what to expect, but I did have some expectations. My expectations were wrong, but that is a good thing. The gameplay itself feels very on-rails, but that works to The Veilguard's advantage. It allows for more a more curated environment that feels interesting. I find my self exploring every nook and cranny looking for the expertly hidden loot. Sometimes this leads to entire side quests, that tell a story of their own. The side quests within levels are short enough to stay interesting and don't feel too disruptive from the primary quest.

The combat feels decent, but is fairly simple when playing as a fighter. There are perks that can make combat a little more interesting, but I find myself just spam clicking and dodging every attack rather than focusing on blocking or abilities.

Despite the combat, I find The Veilguard to be enjoyable and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good immersive RPG.

Controller controls do not work and half the controls are unbound when first launching the game. Essentially unplayable.

Played on the Steam Deck.

Indika feels a lot more like a thought experiment with random puzzles thrown in. The story isn't overly compelling, but the thoughts and ideas behind the dialogue can be very thought provoking.

On the Steam Deck, the game isn't as beautiful as I think they made it to be. I may come back to this game to replay it in 4k to really enjoy the details of the environment. The game did run smoothly, for the most part, but I did experience some frame dropping in some environments.

Overall a very good, short story. It almost feels like watching a movie.

Plays great on the Steam Deck, despite being labelled as "Unsupported".

Really addicting game loop and progression.

Early Access Review
Incredibly buggy even for a Early Access game. Still playable, kind of.
