Amazing game, sat it my backlog for way too long. I was a bit overwhelmed by how open it was at the start, but the game's "Ship Log" is a really useful tool to help you follow bread crumb trails you've previously left off.

Very good game for gaming with a friend sitting over your shoulder helping you make connections.

A lot of fun, cool story. Not exactly what I was expecting (It's very sandbox in the exploration, but ultimately the ending is pretty linear).

Multiplayer was medicore. I liked the ability to turn it off when I was not in the mood. It was very fun to invade friends when they were trying to play.

Does a great job of showing the real desperation of a war torn apocolypse type city. Neat parkour. I llike how you have to manage your very limited bullets and bluff with your empty gun.

The game that got me into CRPG. The writing is better than Fallout New Vegas, and the magic making system is sick as hell

The combat is like original Paper Mario, but it's a platformer. The plot is more like a Zelda parody. (You play as a mook who defeats the chosen hero)

It drags in some moments, but overall fairly well paced. I feel like the rhythm game aspect should have been dove into more.

The combat and platforming segments are also like playing two completly separate games, and it's a little jarring. In a few boss fights it really works, but most of the time it just feels like a chore. (The first boss really sucks for this, but the Grey Knight has a very similar format but makes it work very well)

Great writing helps elevate this game from a skip to a "play if you're into that sort of a thing".

I'd give it a 4 out 7. Solid game, but rough around the edges.

Relaxing routine based game that somehow avoids the feeling that it's a grind.

Honestly probably a solid game, but it's old and feels a bit outdated and clunky. You'd be better off playing Divinity or Tyranny, but if you've already played those and just want more of that, this probably isn't a terrible game for you.

It's barely voice acted and for me that's a hard turn off in 2020. If I had played it when it came out I probably would have loved it.

EDIT : After slogging through it, and playing the second one it has grown on me. I still wouldn't recommend it unless you are really into this type of game or DND, but I do think it is a good game, and the writing is great. Pick it up a big discount, or try Deadfire/Tyranny/Divinity 2 first. If you like those games then give this one a try.

I gave this game a try in 2017 when it came out and I noped out in about 1 hour.

Tried it again this year and oh boy what I mistake I made. I love this game. It may be up there as one of my favorites. I don't want to get too much into spoilers but what I thought was a generic shooter with shoehorned in RPG elements is actually an immersive sim like Dishonoured, with a crafting system that actually deserves to be in the game. (Though I do think the numbers may need to be tweaked on what rescorces they give you a bit).

Very creative and fun weapons and power-ups.

The game uses stealth in a very organic and satisfying way.

It encourages you to solve problems using creativty and encourages multiple solutions

I don't want to say too much because I think it's best gone into blind. However give it a couple hours to find it's groove because the start didn't quite hook for me.

9/10 Must play for fans of the genre.

I have not played the DLC

30 minutes of boring cutscenes and slow walking before the game finally begins to another bland Ubisoft snoozefest. I loved Far Cry 3. I was okay with Far Cry 4. I kind of hate Far Cry 5. We now have a bland silent protaganist and even less direction on what to do. The sandbox basically boils down to "do the thing in front of you" because the map is so bloated with meaningless objectives. Skip this one.

EDIT: I thought it would get better eventually. I was most curious about the companion system so I held on.

It does not, it only gets more bland the more you play. Even the bear companion doesn't add anything meaningful or fun. I cared so little about the plot I started skipping any cinimatics that didn't have the main badguy about half way through and my experience improved slightly. This is the most milktoast bland game I've ever played.

Stealth has been nerfed from previous games, but only in that I now have no idea how it works.

To compensate melee is WAY stronger and you always have 2 mercenaries helping you unless you explicitly dismiss them. You're OP AF Always.

It's so boring to get around they added an autodrive system, because why would you even want to play the game they do it for you. Also anytime anyone is talking you need to stand perfectly still or they will start again. Most of this game is sitting around waiting for your chance to shoot. The shooting sucks. Far Cry 3 is one of my favorite games of all time and this... it doesn't even register. Like it's so boring I can't even say I hate it. It's so bland I will probably forget it exists in a week (and thank god for that.)

Literally the only thing it did right is the "preper stashes" throughout the game. They're like little tomb raider levels where you have to find the treasure. They're all unique and have some flavor and at the end you get 3 perk points and a bunch of coins you have to pick up individually. They're not mind blowing, they're super linear and obvious puzzles, but they at least add some variety to the most blah game of 2018

EDIT : Reading back on this review two years later, and I honestly, this game made literally no impact on me. I don't remember it at all. I'm glad I read back my own review to give it a miss.
