One of my favorite games of all time. Mad max is one of the best movie series and I love it. Best movies. Best story. Most influential. I will play this again. I just wish these guys would've released a second game. And third. This game had and has so much potential. We have a fallout series now. Why can't we also get a Mad Max series. This has explosions, car building, character progression, Mad music, awesome battles and a massive open world full of Mad Max goodies and lore.

This ticks all the boxes. I am so happy i don't have to constantly eat and drink to stay alive. Now water is for cooking, and food is for energy which you can use to heal yourself when sleeping. Brilliant mechanic and doesn't frustrate me. Yes there is durability, but its done right here. You get anomalies that repair equipment, and skills that makes repairing them easy and fun. Also crafting just ties so well into everything. Its a great skill. Every single skill is important and that makes it a challenge what to level up. But it feels like i can just live in the world, farming, and levelling up, and looting. Its a fun game that allows me to live the stalker lifestyle. And its in my favourite top down isometric format. The Inventory is tough to sort and your weight caps you to not carry everything around, but feels realistic. Stamina ties in very well with the carry capacity. Its as tough as Stalker, so many anomalies, and monsters and treasure hunting. Survival. And managing everything so you survive through this hell.

A sleeper forever. Drifting. Faceless. Through time. Only a copy of who you are. A trapped dream. Just a memory. A silent cage of potential. Stars touch your voiceless scream. The vastness looms. So many choices. You touch lives. Change them. Where do you belong. Where do you go. Who are you. Alone. Lost. A far away light pulsing. The splinter of a memory. Desolate. Stranded. A Beached whale. A whisper on the wind. Solemn. Happy. Sad. Nothing. But something. Your life a single point in time. Corroded vastness. Overwhelming. An Existence. A fabrication. A thread so thin. So many threads. So many lost souls. After all this. The end too comes. Each one a grain of sand. Just like endless diamonds glisten in the starlight. Though made of the same. Nothing ever really changes but change itself. Time flies by. My body dies. The silent net trapping this soul. No more smiles. No more words. Invisible hands take me away. This is my final goodbye.

So Hellslave. Its a grim dark fantasy game. We don't really get enough games with in setting. Its dark. Its gloomy. Its visceral. Amazing artwork. Dirty and grungy. I really like the story, and the setting. I think its easy to say bad things about a game. But what about the good things. This game does have a lot going for it. I'm really enjoying it. Playing till the early morning hours just to get more story.

Why do i enjoy this game. The Artwork, just wow on the Artwork. Its really beautiful. Sound design. The ability to choose who you play as. Who you serve when building your character decides what route you take when playing through the game making it unique to your choices. The awesome abilities you get and decides when and how to use them in combat. Exploration. The challenge of building my ultimate warrior. The enemies are well designed and look amazing. There is plenty of loot to find with different names and artwork. They do change how your paper doll looks. The map is beautiful.

Things i feel that can be improved upon. Yeah. Sure. There have been a few things that pop up as i play this that ive thought, hmmm, could be a bit tweaked. Music variety. More encounters in dungeons. Most of the encounters are just random loot boxes where i rarely get attacked or surprised by something. Id like more story encounters. Those encounters can then give you loot for completing them. I'm not mad about the crafting system. And im also confused about the colours or loot. What is the worst loot, and what is the best loot. As sometimes the Rarity of an item is high, but the selling price is low, and the abilities of the item aren't that great. So i tend to keep what i like and now what is the rarest. As the rare items are sometimes worse than the less rare items. The combat is kinda predictable. I run through all my skills and abilities the same in each battle, and then just mash the attack button and heal. Theres not a lot of diversity or randomness to battles. you never get to see your character. Only as a paper doll. Not in combat, not while traversing the map, not in Town. Not while exploring dungeons. Also loot. Why am i getting 90% mana items and im a Warrior? I want things that improve my crit, and bleed, and melee power. Not rings and talismans and armour that boost my mana. A warrior is a brute strength guy, he doesn't care for mana skills or items. But i keep getting them as if the game is trying to tell me something.
Ive fought the demon i aligned with in the beginning, when i created my character, but he never admits to me being his disciple. As if he doesn't even know about me. And once a demon lord is killed, i can still pray to them at a shrine? Thats a bit weird. Are the killed or only banished and still grant prayers? The map is a bit under populated with places to visit and things to do. Skills should also be unique to the demon you choose. And not just be the same skill tree, but randomised.

Yeah so, that's my small review for now. Yeah the Cons seem more than the Pros. But don't let that stop you, this is still well worth it to play and i am gripped to level up, explore, loot dungeons, fight demons, and learn more about the story. Sure there are technical stuff and some balancing and other things to smooth out, but its a pretty fun game. And i think there has gone a lot of thought into it. Definitely a very cool setting that more game developers should look into.

Without proper mods this game sucks. Anniversary or not. No ENB so 11 year old graphics. Boring and bland gameplay. What do you really get with the Anniversary edition you cant get with free mod packs? Nothing. A bunch of Nexus mods that don't really add anything. And yet they ask you money. Where you can just us Wabbajack and a mod pack. As they game is, its old, and worn out.

*EDIT*

Okay, i'm putting this up top. Just finished the game so wanted to write this above the original review before i forget.

You know how i gave this a positive review? I need to somehow change that to my favourite game of the year review. Its been ages since i played something so free. Yes, it feels free. You feel free when you are playing. It's liberating to fly through space so effortlessly and free. And in harmony with space and your ship. I've done some amazing tricks here. At incredible speed. And i have fought amazing battles that were huge. Some tough enemies that had me struggling.

But it was always fun. It was always just enough that you could feel yourself grow. And progress just like Nara. Is it Nara or Naran. I'm sure its Nara, but she was called Naran as well. Shes an amazing character. All of the guys in the game were. And i love the voice acting. Amazing production value.

I have been looking for a game like this for a very very long time. I almost never finish games. They bore me. This. This never bored me. I finished this. And i was crying at the end. Just because it was so amazing. The whole game just came together and blew my mind. All of the hours i put into this. The exploration. The missions. The people i met, and the friends i made, and the amazing skills i got to test out. I'm not a bad gamer. I could do it. And i usually suck, but with this game it resonated with me. We just clicked.

There is no other way to describe it. It was just a mind blowing game. The ending and the points leading up towards the ending. Everything was in Chorus. The whole story, such an amazing story. But while i'm always a story driven player, and a game seriously needs one to keep me interested, the game itself plays so smooth, so fluid, so effortless.

It will forever be in my heart and my mind. And on my top games of the year. I have so many games on Steam. But this was a jewel. A find of a lifetime. And i'm so sad its finished.

*END OF EDIT*

If you liked Freelancer, Elite Dangerous, No Man's Sky, Everspace, Babylon 5, Battle Star Galactica, or anything similar, i can promise you, you will like this. Smooth gameplay, computer resource friendly and runs amazing on my PC, amazing graphics, easy to fly ships, works perfectly with the keyboard and mouse. I have done some amazing maneuvers with the skills i got in the game, i love the ships and weapons upgrade system, the cut-scenes and story is amazing, the music is epic, i love the fast paced fighting, strewn between main and side missions are random missions. I'm never bored. Seriously cant get enough of this game. Top notch voice acting. Highly recommended.

So yeah. It is buggy sure. But bugs get fixed. The game has a ton of heart. And there is a lot of cool character progression in it. Feel good moments. And super interesting developments. It is honestly i feel worth the money and time i've sinked into it. Would i buy it again if i could, hell yes i would. It reminds me so much of all my previous games and sci-fi movies that's been a part of my life. And its become something i cant wait to play.
