Talking about Games, the Universe, and Everything

This little group is an experiment to find a place to talk about games, pop culture and everything that makes this bleak and dystopian world fun.

A kind of "private forum" where we keep can keep the riffraff out and celebrate gaming, not showing off how snide and sarcastic we can be.

Discussing (and dissecting) games can often be just as much fun as playing them, and this is a place to do it. Feel free to post, comment and share your thoughts and opinions.

(We are currently using the Groupchat as an makeshift IRC, it works surprisingly well)

After a few hundred years in existence, The Water Cooler is still alive! Shambling with bits of flesh falling off, alive nonetheless. So, as a public announcement, I'm reminding you people that we exist and that we always welcome talk about videogames. So, if you feel like discussing something - give us a shot. We're extremely unlikely to bite.

After over four months in beta, it’s safe to say this little group has been an unforeseen success (not that our expectations were very high to begin with). We’re happy to have quite a few regulars and commenters already, but would like to hear from even more of you – if you haven’t already, come swing by the private group forum to discuss games, life, art and anything in between in a relaxed atmosphere where we’ll never judge you (but can always edit your posts to make you look silly).

For even happier leisure times, come visit the group chat, occasionally bursting with activity whenever anyone feels like it or when we’re trying to get some multiplayer action going. Just remember that wearing pants is strictly optional and you’ll fit right in.

No matter if you want to change the world one mind at a time, vent your frustrations or just hang out with a bunch of picky(and incredibly handsome) videogame enthusiasts, the group is here to help.

Neverway seems like a fun 16bit retro Zelda like but dark adventure RPG. Release TBA

Blacksmith Master seems simulator like but perhaps more narrative. Release 2025-05-15

Tears of Metal is a medieval aRPG co-op roguelike, Mount & Blade vibe. I like the paper clip art design, style reminds me of Orcs Must Die but less comedic. Release: Beta soon, but full 2025.

Outbound upgradable home vehicle simulator. This one stood out for me. Release coming soon.

The Alters base building survival adventure in sci fi. Looks solid. Release 2025-06-13

Ikuma The Frozen Compass - narrative adventure.. just charming. Release date 2026 though.

Triple I Initiative.. damn I need sleep. V Rising getting a big update 28th April, going to return to it one day but too time consuming. Heroes Olden Era cinematic trailer is out. Decent but EA release is now set at "Summer".

I tried Dead Cells early, impression was better than most rogue likes but I wanted to wait. With all the DLCs and hopefully game design improvements I will probably like it, same with Rogue PoP just not in a mood for that type of game, I still have PoP Lost Crown DLC to finish.

I did, apparently it's pretty good. Has some shared DNA with Dead Cells, apparently. I'm neither a big fan of the genre nor did I actually enjoy Dead Cells, so I mostly ignored it.

The Rogue Prince of Persia?
EA release 2024 May.. I missed it completely. Not a huge fan of rogue likes but it seems solid, quite similar to The Lost Crown.

Yeah. Reminds me when I installed GOG galaxy recently for FEAR that it's nice to have efficient software, game store is not really needed so only loading the library (also skip hidden games) just to reduce resource demand. Probably a small gain and might not reach that many users but good nonetheless.
