A framework for the creation of new alien races in Rimworld

If you ever thought that the racial diversity in rimworld is... not that diverse and you want to change that, you came to the right place. This framework allows to easily add new humanoid races without any C# knowledge, purely in xml.

The rest is up to your creativity: Fantasy races like Elves, Dwarves and Orks; Sci-Fi races like Asari, Klingons, Gungans eldritch beings like Deep Ones; or greenskinned and leaf-sporting mutants.




  • Custom graphics with weighted skin and hair color selection
  • Changing graphics, optionally changing over the course of aging.
  • Drawing additional parts on the body that change based on backstory, diseases and implants.
  • Integration in the starting pawns, as well as slaves and refugees.
  • Custom Backstories
  • Customizable bodysize, that can change during the lifetime.
  • Support for genderless races
  • Optional immunity to aging related body problems.
  • Optional forced traits
  • Customizable thoughts, with specific configurations for eating and butchering humanlikes
  • Modifiable relation chances
  • Race restricted clothing, weapons, research projects, buildings, bills and plants.
  • Custom Ideologies relating to eating, enslaving, killing and dating aliens.

Genes are not supposed to do what a lot of mod authors are doing nowadays, yes. You are.. fully correct in that.
And yeah your conclusion is also correct.

Not under that impression, no. More just unaware how the system works, so asking someone who's way more knowledgeable.

So essentially u mean, that since both avali and synths are technically just xenotypes, aka something affecting pretty much basic bitch baseliner, they won't see each other as aliens, despite vast differences in biology, body type, literally everything that makes alien an alien.

And no, I'm not calling u out on that. More sighing at the game itself.

You seem to be under the impression that that is somehow my categorization? It is not. The game differentiates between races. Like.. the difference between a Thrumbo and a Human. It's just that at their core they are very different types of life. And the game calls that race.

Huh, well It's been documented for months now that HAR breaks styling station... For some reason. Talking Zetrith's Multiplayer.

Hmm.. What defines alien an alien then? Cause again, our characters saw each other as aliens before, him being a xenophile too, but now nothing.

Any idea why they don't see each other as aliens?

@Nephibis I.. don't know what saiyan classes are.. so no idea what you are even asking. Enabling randomize allows the randomizer to change the race.

@Rogue, I can only speculate since you seem to have an... odd setup. I also don't know anything about HAR breaking Ideoligion, not quite a known issue to me. But Xenotype doesn't really have any impact on the Xeno trait or ideology.

I'm not sure how races vs xenotypes work, but when using the Saiyan mod I click the face icon (when select what race it must be) and I select Saiyan Colonist. When I create a custom xenotype it randomly selects the class of saiyan(sometimes the class I selected, but a lot of times different), but leaves the other genes I selected. Then it creates (I think it is called germline) that it randomly selects.

If I go into the options and turn off the randomize option(2nd option) then it gives me exactly what I selected for the custom xenotype, but it randomly selects a look that usually doesn't look humanlike (even if I selected saiyan face as a gene). Hitting randomize will alter how they look, but they still look like the same type of alien.

Is this a mod conflict or is there any way I can make the saiyans look human without it randomly changing my saiyans class and adding random extra genes I didn't select?

You say that, but my friends character with a custom xenotype stopped seeing my character as an alien, even tho we're two obviously different species. Was curious if there's any correlation to that, if it's a recent change, update, lack of updates on mods part, I don't know.

And yes, we're playing multiplayer, but that shouldn't matter, other than HAR breaking ideoligion stuff, that's a known issue. So yeah, just curious if there's any corelation to xenotype messing with species, or "a feathered bird and a metal synth don't see each other as aliens, cause it's just custom xenotypes"?

not sure what you are quoting.. it's not me. And different species see each other as aliens.. not sure what you mean. The earlier question was if xenotypes in the same species see each other as aliens.. and the question to that is no, since it's just minor genetic alterations.
