About This Game

The goal of Personal Finance Simulator is to end up in a good financial situation by retirement! That could mean having millions in the bank or it could just mean avoiding eviction before retirement. You can choose various parameters to customize your experience. You make personal finance decisions like choosing your lifestyle, investing your money, and getting into the housing market. You will also encounter random events which can help or hinder your plans.

Your ending is based on how much money you end up with by age 65! If you want to retire into the good life, you'll want to end up with a good amount of money. There are various things you can do to increase your chances of a successful outcome. You can live within your means as you let your savings build up. You can invest your savings into different levels of risk/reward. You can save up for a 20% down payment and get into the housing market. With a mix of skill and luck, you could end up with millions.

It's can be challenging to get ahead! Inflation can be a major obstacle that snowballs over time. Random event cards have a chance of happening during each month. Some random events are good, but bad random events can cause problems. Some bad random events like losing a light bulb are relatively minor, but others like getting medical bills can be more major.

You can customize your experience to your liking and difficulty preference! You can choose how much money you start with, from $0 to $1,000,000. Choosing percentages for wage increases and average yearly inflation may seem small but have a major impact on the challenge. Which profession you choose and the resulting income is a major factor in your financial outcome. The city you choose to live in will impact the costs of buying property and renting, a major part of each budget.
