Hi. I just learned this. Your map is amazing. Can I use it? If not, forget it..

@This is a name 'Stuff' drops from Stuff Slimes, an enemy that has a 1 in 5 chance of spawning in the forest map directly south of where you receive the quest at. You'll know when it spawns because on the encounter screen, it will tell you Slime and Stuff Slime have appeared. Stuff Slimes also have a sparkle animation attached to them to distinguish them from regular slimes. Once you encounter one, all you have to do is win the battle, 'Stuff' has a 100% drop chance from Stuff Slimes and you only need 1 to complete the quest and advance. Hope that helps!

Where is the "stuff" (2nd quest) ?
I feel so stupid cause i'm stuck after 15min (in the forest, can't find it)

I can tell that something like this is going to take an immense amount of effort to finish, but if ever you manage it just know that I'm eagerly looking forward to it! The story is unique and interesting and the combat system, while choppy, is really nice to see and has a lot of potential. I don't know how you managed to make the field menu the way it is, but it looks wonderful. In any case, I'll keep a look out for a finished version (or later demos if that'll help). :)

Hi, what about maps. I cannot just import a map as it deforms the tilesets completely.
Kaelcat  [author] 24 Sep, 2017 @ 5:03pm
@asherlevin85 I commissioned an artist to make mine custom. Your best bet would either be to commission an artist, or make the battlers yourself. This system is very graphics heavy and rarely used so I hardly doubt there is any free enemies you can use floating out there.
me@ 24 Sep, 2017 @ 1:36pm
How on earth would you add more enemies? I have tried to find Linear Battle Enemies but can't find any out there. Any help?
Kaelcat  [author] 17 Aug, 2017 @ 1:24am
@Mattyxloco, it's an edited version of Moghunter's LMBS found here: https://atelierrgss.wordpress.com/rmv-lmbs-linear-motion-battle-system/
Kruko 16 Aug, 2017 @ 11:25pm
HOW DO YOU DO THAT BATTLE SYSTEM!!!
Cosmos 25 Jun, 2017 @ 9:35pm
OMG A REAL-TIME FIGHTING SYSTEM! WOW!
Kaelcat  [author] 4 Jun, 2017 @ 8:27pm
@ashrum to answer some questions:

1) I used a website called waifu2x to double the image size without losing quality and then scaled it in GIMP by 75% and that got the 32x32 sets to 48x48.
2) I'm hoping to change the beginning in the next update of the demo to slow it down and not make the story so fast-paced. I will also give the player more enticement with Arietta and Colette's motivations.
3) I'm also hoping at some point to set up battle tutorials INSIDE of the battles, i.e., when the player hits the first random encounter of the game it starts up the tutorial in that scene. Interactive learning is the best way to engage the player but currently I have the fairy set up until I can make that happen.
4) It must not be as clear as I thought it was, but ordinary humans can't see the wings of the Fallen, only the Harbinger can. Thanks for pointing that out, I will have to clearly express it in the new intro.

Thank you very much for commenting! :charmed:
ashrum 1 Jun, 2017 @ 1:46pm
Splendid mapping. What program did you use to change size of tilesets?
But I didn't understand the battle system. It needs better tutorial then chat with fairy.
Also story seems interesting, but storitelling isn't very good. It's too fast, at first. Motivation of characters as it shown isn't satisfying. Arietta hear strange sound, and... goes to the forest, at night, alone. Is she crazy?! Maybe make Colette fall near her house, or make Ariette say something 'Well, I know forest is safe place". She see Colette's wings aind understand that she is fallen. And without much concern or fear bring her to house. The only thing she knew about fallen that they are monsters, but she believe Colette without any doubts! Maybe make her to think about what do with the girl little more?
ashrum 1 Jun, 2017 @ 1:46pm
Or make Colette seriously wounded, so Ariette feel that she must help her? And then, in the forest, seeing paladin's necklace, Ariette run away. Why so emotional reaction now? She was calm before!
Also, no one paid attention to the purple-winged angel in the chuch. So wings isn't sometnig uncommon? Or maybe make the character wear a cloak at first, and then he take it off and show wings?

I hope mu advices will help. Game is very beautiful!

Tried it for an hour, here's what I got for it.

Pros:
-I love the scenary in pretty much every map, top notch, keep that up.
-The battle system is super interesting. I never really played the tale's games myself but judging from what I see here, it's quite fun to play around with.

Cons:
-The pacing is SUPER FAST. I couldn't even catch my breath before all this information was dumped on me. Maybe ease up on it a bit? If that's what you're going for, then keep rolling.
-Personal tidbit, not a fan of the story as a whole, but don't let that sway you. Not every story is going to be loved by all.

Overall, I enjoyed it for what it was worth. I know it's still a demo but those are my quick and simple thoughts. Nothing too nitpicky I hope.

Keep up the good work, lookin forward to future updates!

How do you upload your project to steam workshop?
Kaelcat  [author] 3 Apr, 2017 @ 7:35pm
No I have not! I would be perfectly alright if you did a Let's Play on it.
Steel 3 Apr, 2017 @ 6:08pm
Have you ever had anyone do a Let's Play on your game? My wife and I do game critiques and first impression Let's Play videos.
akatitan 30 Mar, 2017 @ 7:05pm
i did some checking on what u said for the menu error the file is there as actor_1.png
i also checked for the battlers there are no files or img that is named that but the actor and the batter sprite or the same character so idk if thats related
Reckless Nice Guy 28 Mar, 2017 @ 10:12pm
I shall try this. looks very much inspired by the Tales games in general.
Kaelcat  [author] 27 Mar, 2017 @ 3:11pm
It sounds like you're getting the error due to missing files. Can you check the game's folder and make sure they're there?
akatitan 26 Mar, 2017 @ 4:57am
tried again doing what you said of updating my os and didnt help .
pulling up the menu gives me the error 'failed to load:img/menus/faces/faces3/actor_1.',
also entering battles gives me error 'failed to load:img/lmbs/battlers/Colette%5Bidle%5D.png'.
Now i did this after updating my os, also if i were to re try dl this id either have to use wine which means ill have too redownload steam, rpg maker and this which would take a considerable amount of time or use a vm which would take even longer btw am using this on playtest mode idk if this would be causing the problem and i need to make it into a playable file first but either way trying to run it on ubuntu directly isnt working
Kaelcat  [author] 26 Mar, 2017 @ 2:03am
@akatitan RPGMaker MV just updated with a Linux version, have you updated your software and the project? If not, you should be able to run it just fine in a Windows virtual machine. Steam will auto-format the files to fit your OS.
akatitan 25 Mar, 2017 @ 6:20pm
am using ubuntu and i know they only recently added support for it but am unable to load the battles r the menu thus far so atm this isnt useable for those using a linux os

thank you!
HollowKing 25 Mar, 2017 @ 1:44pm
So I finished the demo and the game is awesome!
Is this game a demo as in it is a preview while you make the rest of the game?

All the same pros as in before plus these two:
1) WOW! How did you do that battle system? I have no idea how you implemented that and I am very impressed.
2) My first impression of the dialouge was a bit hasty, it was better than I thought I really like it when the characters talk while you are walking.

This is an amazing game, if you ever want help developing it just let me know!
HollowKing 25 Mar, 2017 @ 4:29am
I just played for a few minutes, but I will play it more tommorow its getting really late and I have to go to bed, but I just want to say things I've noticed in first few minutes:

Pros:
1) Tilesets and lighting very good obviously a lot of work went into it.
2) Your character art is excellent very impressed
3) That is a gorgeous menu screen, my jaw dropped when I pressed escape.
4) Mapped very well it really feels like a forest and a village. I wish I had your skills when it comes to art and stuff.
Cons:
1) The text and dialouge so far has been a little lackluster compared to the quality of the rest of the game.

I would be happy to work with you and help the dialouge come alive a little more if you like, :)(Totally understand if you don't want help lots of people like working alone.)

Anyways I have only played a small amount will probably play the whole thing tommorow after I get some sleep.:p2chell:

This is incredible, so beautiful. Hope I'll be able to make games like you as well one day. Some day. Maybe. *Damn inferiority complex.*
Kaelcat  [author] 23 Mar, 2017 @ 2:13pm
@Cole69 I commissioned a couple of artists to make assets, but yes, the entire development was done by myself. It took about a year to get it into this state.
Ashen_1 23 Mar, 2017 @ 9:34am
I like it
Cole69 23 Mar, 2017 @ 5:05am
Was this created by one person? Wow, it looks great :-D No time to play it yet
4Akross 23 Mar, 2017 @ 12:15am
I tend to be a bit critical of something when I find that I like, my bad if it came out a bit harsh. from what I've seen of the steam version it looks like a lot of work was put it to it. It’s obvious the tilesets are not just the defaults. That battle system, don’t know how much the plugin effected it, (just got RPG maker recently myself, have yet to really look into plugins just yet.) but that had to

Coincidence, huh, even for the name? Heh that's great!
Actually, kind of thought it was likely a coincidence, well not so much for the name maybe, but the character herself, appearance and personality wise are actually pretty different. Well either way, nothing wrong with being influenced by a good (series of) game(s). Woo!
I look forward to seeing what you do with this in the future!
Kaelcat  [author] 22 Mar, 2017 @ 10:55pm
@Hellfox If you're on Windows, go to this game's steamapps--->workshop directory (should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\363890) and move the projects into your "My Documents" folder. That should work.

@Slycep Thank you! I'm very glad you enjoyed it!
Nico 22 Mar, 2017 @ 3:06pm
Liked it!:steamhappy:
Kaelcat  [author] 22 Mar, 2017 @ 2:18am
@4Akross The workshop version hasn't been updated with patch v1.1 yet. All of the event bugs that have been brought to my attention have been fixed in that version. I'll look into remapping the key bindings for battle, and possibly allow it so the player can bind the keys themselves in the options menu. I understand what works for me may not work for others and this is the first time this has been brought to my attention.

With the issue of Colette, yes, I do realize she shares some design appearance similaries with Colette from Tales of Symphonia, but that is where it ends. She actually isn't even based off of that Colette, her original design comes from an OC my best friend made many years back. I love the Tales games however and have taken a lot of influence from them.
4Akross 22 Mar, 2017 @ 12:27am
As a Tales fan I've quite enjoyed the fighting system. Though yeah, the controls are a bit awkward, especially when they use buttons not used anywhere else. Can't help but wonder how much of this is based on Tales. (Colette, an angel with long blond hair that falls sound awful familiar~)
But I do have a bit of constructive criticism:
So I noticed when playing that a lot of signs and such could be read standing in the wrong direction, so, I get the feeling you're placing the event on the ground. This can be easily fixed though by placing it on the wall in front of where the player is standing. You may want to change the priority setting in the event editor to “Same as Character”. Alternatively you can use a conditional branch, go to the third tab of the conditional branch, then check character and switch the drop down menus so it says something along the lines of “Player is facing up” or whichever direction they’re facing.
Arthur 21 Mar, 2017 @ 8:19pm
Not showing up in my workshop files
saulocvg 20 Mar, 2017 @ 6:26pm
I've played the game and have some more comments: the button config for the fight isn't good. The player should not have a set of buttons to walk/interact/cancel and another one to fight. They should be the same. Attack should be the OK key. Skills should be on the Cancel key. Running on the shift key. Guarding should be on the letter C because it is just next to X. This is very easy to change in LMBS parameters. Get rid of the A, S and D buttons.
dasbiz33 19 Mar, 2017 @ 4:24pm
Yes, that helped. It's really good. Thank you!
Kaelcat  [author] 18 Mar, 2017 @ 11:39pm
@dasbiz33 I am not sure. Perhaps googling it will help?

@saulocvg The voice work is original except a few lines Colette has that I've used the ones from the demo. I am aware of this but didn't want to delay the demo release due to it. All of the lines will be original in a future update. The voice volume was lowered in patch v1.1 which is not on the Workshop version yet. (Mainly because I'm not sure how to update it without uploading an entire new submission.)

If you're referring to the battler sprites, yes, its all original art made for the game, thank you!
dasbiz33 18 Mar, 2017 @ 2:19pm
So, what if you subscribed and nothing happens? Thank you by the way.
saulocvg 18 Mar, 2017 @ 2:03pm
You should edit the voice volume. I am using the LMSB too and we need to take care with this. Also, another problem I had too: the voice work has to be original. If not, you could get sued. But the game looks amazing. Are these original sprites? If they are, congratulations, they look amazing.
Kaelcat  [author] 17 Mar, 2017 @ 10:22pm
Hit the subscribe button and it should automatically start downloading. You should be able to find it in your steam folder then under: steamapps/common/RPG Maker MV/workshop.
dasbiz33 17 Mar, 2017 @ 10:12pm
How can I download this? Sorry if it's obvious.
