nevermind, I fixed it. I turned the hdr setting to "bloom" and they work, thank you

I need some help, the normal (not dark or bright) are super bright but shiny, like I can tell they reflect but regardless the textures are super bright and it doesn't matter if I use the darker textures, they're still very bright. Again I can see the textures, but they're very shiny and i'm barely able to actually see the colors

Just turn HDR off!

Oh i figured out what it was, it's something that happens if you have HDR (high dynamic range) on!

I never responded to that, did I? Well what happened was actually an issue with a map I was on. I’m not sure what map it was specially, but it worked just fine on flatgrass.

Try right-clicking Garry's mod in your games list, go to properties, go to launch options, and try putting in -dxlevel 95 , save that option, then start garry's mod again

I tried that, it was the first thing I found and I'm just removing my subscriptions, reinstalling fresh and going from there to see if its fixed.

Usually when that happens it means your mat_specular is at 0. To fix that you need to open the console with the `/~ button and type in "mat_specular 1"

First off, love the icon, loved the Mario movie. Second, as to why the materials are only showing up black or white, it's because something is off in your settings. Try going to the console and typing in mat_specular 1
