First off. I just wanted to say this is an amazing looking mod. Really helps to spruce up the game nicely. I do however appear to be having a missing texture issue. During the Nova Prospect chapter, where you enter the larger area with all the washing machines I found a small area of the floor where the decals leave pink/black checker board pattern.

I am using a texture pack but the problem persists even when reverting to default textures.

Nice mod, it always looked weird that there is just a black hole in every little gunshot hole now dont get me wrong i aint no weapon genius but are you really going to tell me that every damn bullet went so deep in to that wall that i shot that there is a black void there especially if i am using a 9mm pistol, very nice mod:steamthumbsup::gordon:

This mod requires the manual installation of "scripts/decals_subrect.txt" into the Custom folder to work properly. I apologize for that but that's an issue with the Steam Workshop that has to be fixed by Valve. For some reason it just ignores that file.

Let me know if that fixes it for you. That square of bullets never shows up for me even If I only subscribe to the workshop mod, which is odd.

Massive bug where sometimes one of the bullet holes won't actually be a hole and instead just be a square png of bullet holes.

@bingbof I made an update and added a new decal type for dirt / grass / plaster. There's no way to add separate decals for grass and plaster so i tried to make it look good for both surfaces.

Sadly the file scripts/decals_subrect.txt does not work for some reason on the workshop so you have to manually install the mod for all the other decals to show up.

In order to make the decals look the way they do I had to use LightMappedGeneric and VertexLitGeneric instead of the intended DecalModulate shader.

In ep2_outland_02, the end of the tunnels use the Tools/ToolsBlack texture. Apparently, my decals work properly UNTIL they also appear on that specific UnlitGeneric texture. Kind of a big problem because all the turrets shoot towards them during the antlion attack. :steamsad:

It's a weird engine limitation that I cannot fix properly. I will try to see if a ToolsBlack replacement which uses the LightmappedGeneric shader fixes it but it's a messy solution.

yup, the decals look great but they do occasionally go fullbright

In ep2 where you fight the Antlion hordes with the two rebels all the bullet decals become bright white if you're looking in a specific direction.

In Episode 1, after leaving the crashed razor train, the bullet decals in the tunnel are huge. Perhaps because these are part of the level instead of dynamic.

I think I managed to finally fix it. Please give it a try and tell me if it works simply by subscribing to the workshop mod.

I think it's something wrong with the workshop. It works fine when the files are placed in hl2/custom folder.

1. Go to Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\220\3366820977
2. Copy workshop_dir.vpk to Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life 2\hl2\Custom

This should work as a quick fix.

I think this is broken actually, it's generating missing textures and when looking at the console it says it's missing these decals
