@VitaKaninen

As long as the mod works fine and you have no errors, then there's no need to change anything, it's just a matter of avoiding conflict with other audio mods. I have a similar placement when using RimPy to sort and it works just fine in my almost 400 mod list.

My mod is a simple collection of SoundDefs and patches, there's no reason to include more strict load order rules, I just made sure it loads somewhat after Core + DLCs.

As always, if you find issues, report them with as much information as possible.
VitaKaninen 16 Aug @ 12:07pm
Just an FYI: I am using RimSort, and it places your mod about 2/3 of the way down my mods list in a list of 515 mods. Does it need to be any closer to the top than that?

If so, is there something you can put in the about.xml to have it loaded closer to the top, such as placing it before vanilla expanded framework? RimSort places VFE directly after Hugslib.

@Grimmas

Thanks for pointing it out, I'll fix it in the next update and make it more clear, you're supposed to load this mod close to the top in order for the patches to load correctly.
If you use RimPy or other mod loaders, they should just do it properly by themselves.

Steam description: "It's recommended to load this mod before other mods that modify sound files to avoid issues."

IN-game mod browser description: "It is important that you load this mod after any other mods that modify sound files to avoid issues."

So, uh, which is it? :-)

Thanks for getting back at me, glad you were able to figure it out!
bAhAcAn 12 Aug @ 4:01am
Thank you for your comment friend. You were right btw, it was a load order issue. For future references, I loaded your mod after VWE: Sound Overhaul and it fixed. :steamthumbsup:

@bAhAcAn

If you still experience issues, please re-download the mod and make sure the mod is up to date by checking your mod folder for .ogg audio files. I don't know how many mods you are using but please read through the pinned thread, the issue you mentioned was exclusive to Linux only.
bAhAcAn 10 Aug @ 6:29am
Hello friend. Great work, I am using your mod both in my windows pc and my wife's mac. Though I believe I have the same issue with Jonnemanni from a page earlier. Same sounds do not play like placing buildings (not constructing them). As you wrote you handled the issue I am wondering if there is a problem from my end or if there is sth else to be done for MacOS. Thanks in advance for you reply. Kudos.
trocapalot  [author] 6 Aug @ 6:40am
Thank you both for the kind words.
GetUrAssToMars 2 Aug @ 11:08pm
Damn those turret sounds are just instant dopamine for me
Buzz 2 Aug @ 3:13pm
best sound mod on the workshop by far incredible work :steamthumbsup:

@GomeShark512

Thanks for the suggestion but RSE will only replace the vanilla and DLC sounds.
Compatibility with other mods, like Dead Man's Switch would be handled separately, similar to how I approached Vanilla Weapons Expanded, as an add-on to RSE.
bugmaster9000 30 Jul @ 1:42pm
If you're interested in adding compatibility, I would love to see this working with the Dead Man's Switch series of mods.
Bushwacker 24 Jul @ 4:09pm
All fixed, thank you!
trocapalot  [author] 24 Jul @ 3:56pm
I'm glad to hear that, hope you have a lot of fun!
Smxrez 24 Jul @ 3:36pm
update appears to have fixed it :D
Smxrez 24 Jul @ 2:20pm
Had the same issue as those 2 (on linux) will test the new update and report back!
trocapalot  [author] 24 Jul @ 9:36am
Thank you both, I have changed the format for the audio files from .mp3 to .ogg, please let me know if that fixes any of the issues on Linux.
Bushwacker 23 Jul @ 5:30pm
Hey there! I'm getting the same issues as @jonemanni with my game now, running on linux, tried a fresh reinstall and it persists with and without other mods.
trocapalot  [author] 23 Jul @ 10:32am
@Jonnemanni

Thanks for reporting, more insight would be good as I can't reproduce your problem at all, downgrading to 1.5 and testing every sound leaves me with no issues so it's most likely either an incompatibility problem with other sound mods, if you're using any, or possibly corrupted game/mod files. Try redownloading my mod and/or make a copy of RimWorld, then update to 1.6 and downgrade again to the latest 1.5 version via the steam beta selection.

It's very weird that you have no letter sounds as they are not affected by PatchOperationReplace functions, instead using the vanilla defs, indicating a problem that is not inherently caused by my mod. Be sure to let me know if you end up finding a working solution to fix the problem, have a great day too and thank you.
Jonnemanni 23 Jul @ 10:05am
'Ello there, great mod, just one issue.
It appears some combination of my mods, the fact that I am still on 1.5, and the two updates from last night has caused an issue where some sounds do not play, nor output any kinda log that I could get you.

Sounds that I had noted with this issue were; the Cancel command sound, the Construction sound would get cut off short, any and all letters (raids, research complete, visitors, etc.), and explosions (tested with mortars only before I figured out it was this mod causing the issue and booted it from my lists for the time being)

I'm not expecting any miracles here, just pointing out that there appears to be issues with the mod in 1.5 specifically, in case you hadn't tested the new updates in that enviroment.

Hope you have a good day!

@Kryoshi

Thanks for reporting, I've fixed the naming problems for Linux users and reduced the file size from 203 MB to 22 MB while I was at it.
Kryoshi 22 Jul @ 12:48am
Hi! Thanks for the great mod! Just wanted to report that I get some errors loading the files that have spaces in their names (on Linux). Specifically the Bullet metal i and j sounds, Heavy mech death 2, and one of the sounds marked 'old'.
Cato 21 Jul @ 10:30am
A wonderful addition to vanilla, thank you.
VitaKaninen 19 Jul @ 6:32am
So, that lets me disable the sound, but I just want the original sound to play.
VitaKaninen 17 Jul @ 12:12pm
Is there a way to disable certain sounds? I am not particularly fond of the bad event sound, which sounds like a mech cluster landing.
Yamso 16 Jul @ 12:08am
awesome :O
lloki 15 Jul @ 12:42pm
Hey man, I started to use this mod recently. After almost 4000 hours with Rimworld this is so fresh! The sounds are so tasty! I'm really enjoying it. I wish you the best. I hope that whenever you feel like it, you will expand the series, because it's worth it (but only if it give you pleasure). Take care!
The Reiksmarshal 14 Jul @ 7:42am
Honest absolutely awesome sound redesign, very well done
Giggles 12 Jul @ 7:30pm
@trocapalot Of course man, you make my favorite game better, which makes my life better. Wishing nothing but the best for you! <3

Thank you for the update!! :RelicII:
trocapalot  [author] 12 Jul @ 1:22am
@Giggles

Thank you very much, it's been very hard but reading everyone's comments has really helped me push through on some days, I honestly can't thank everyone enough.
trocapalot  [author] 12 Jul @ 1:04am
@moo

Try to disable ambient rim and let me know if that fixes the problem, otherwise try reducing the number of sound mods that you have enabled, you can also find a workaround in the pinned discussion thread since the issue is just log spamming.
moo 11 Jul @ 7:03pm
Hi. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this mod is currently wrecking my log both during game and on exit with this famous issue:

Error executing m_FMODChannel->stop()

Modpack is at https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3507289931 if you want to replicate
Giggles 11 Jul @ 6:48pm
Thanks for the update!

I really hope things turn around for you irl <3
trocapalot  [author] 11 Jul @ 12:49pm
Thank you, the mod has been updated to 1.6.
Please report any problems here and I will fix them as soon as I can.
NandoGIP 9 Jul @ 9:53pm

trocapalot  [author] 9 Jul @ 7:44pm
Thank you both for the kind words.
Luden 18 Jun @ 4:54am
Wishing you all the best Trocapalot! Thank you for sharing this mod with the community, please remember you owe us nothing and this is a project you graciously donated your time to share with others for free - Hope to see you around! <3
SpankeyMankey 15 Jun @ 12:56pm
Hey Trocapalot, sorry to hear that brother. I hope things get better for you and until then, keep your head up and take it one day at a time. You can pull through brother, I believe.
trocapalot  [author] 13 Jun @ 10:49pm
@Robo

I honestly just can't tell you, I might port the mod to 1.6 but that's most likely it.
I'm going through a difficult time right now and dealing with a number of problems that are severely impacting me and I'm unsure how they'll affect me in the future.

My priorities have shifted for now and I hope everyone can understand.
Robo 13 Jun @ 12:36pm
Will this be updated to 1.6? Would be interesting to see if your mod can do sound changes for ship takeoff/landing with Odyssey.
Head 20 May @ 7:48am
Amazing work! Love these sounds
trocapalot  [author] 13 May @ 5:39pm
i did not, adding more stuff would kinda defeat the whole purpose of it and i don't recall changing anything apart from the light gun tails being outdated since april
Deankiller Turnupseed 13 May @ 5:07pm
did you update any of its content in the main mod?
trocapalot  [author] 13 May @ 5:04pm
@Deankiller Turnupseed

The mod is unlisted and won't appear on the workshop. There's a hyperlink in the image above you can click to go to the light version's page.
Deankiller Turnupseed 13 May @ 4:43pm
weird i can find it in browser but not the workshop
Deankiller Turnupseed 13 May @ 4:41pm
where is the light version?
