@KasioPuppy Yes, 2.0 will support both versions and the radio will function in B41's multiplayer. Hopefully support for both will be hosted in the same upload.

@klapsu You search for them in the Item List as with any other item. I'm not sure why you'd be having that issue, my apologies.
KasioPuppy 14 Jul @ 5:30pm
will 2.0 work on both b41 and 42 when it drops?
klapsu 14 Jul @ 12:19pm
how can i get specific cassettes in the admin menu? i'm searching for house of the rising sun and i can't find it anywhere in the admin item menu
albion  [author] 12 Jul @ 7:51pm
there are unofficial ports of true music for build 42 that seem to work well enough
hoodie 12 Jul @ 7:44pm
So does that mean the 2.0 will drop anyway or will it be put off until a working port can be made?
batsonline  [author] 12 Jul @ 2:18pm
My understanding is that True Music is currently broken in B42, mostly due to updates to the file structure. Much speculation abounds about Tsar and how the situation in Ukraine may have impacted or halted his development, but whatever the case, it seems unlikely that he'll return any time soon.

Consequently, all we can really do is recommend people pick up unofficial re-uploads of the mod. I don't normally support that kind of thing, but obviously these are extenuating circumstances. MFTEOTW will not contain this and will need such a reupload to work.
hoodie 12 Jul @ 6:38am
Is this mod going to be able to function independently? It seems True Music b42 is broken currently

A little sneak peek: One facet of our time spent has been circling back to touch up old features we had new ideas for. It's a small facet, but has yielded big results!

They're still in testing, but our new traits look like this:
MUSIC ENTHUSIAST (-1)
- 20% chance to find an extra cassette in any relevant container
- 1% chance (on top of normal rates) to find a cache
- Spawn with 10 random cassettes

MUSIC COLLECTOR (-2) (mutually exclusive with above)
- 33% chance for bonus cassette
- 2% chance to find a cache
- Spawn with 15 random cassettes, a blank cassette, and a wearable boombox
- Gain +10 items upon opening any cache!

MUSIC SCAVENGER (-2) (not mutually exclusive)
- 8% chance to find a cassette on any zombie even if Zed Drops is off
- Small increase to finding easter egg items
- +10 items and 1 blank cassette upon opening any cache!
- Spawn with a cassette bag!
batsonline  [author] 8 Jul @ 8:46pm
@Gab Yeah, I've kinda' learned that lesson in this process! :P That's why I didn't give one!

I completely agree with you on all fronts. It was just a mistake, and not because I feel especially guilty for not making those deadlines--as you said, this is contractless volunteer work for which only one person has tipped me (and unfortunately that tip is only a fraction of what I spent on this mod!)

All that said, the news is all good behind the scenes. :) No ETA, but you should know that I'm very happy with the pace of work right now and I'm honestly just as excited as everyone else to actually get to play with it!
Gab 8 Jul @ 5:53pm
Not really my business but if I may make a suggestion when it comes to ETAs: just don't give them. No point to it. You're not on a contract and you're not legally liable for missing deadlines. You can give updates as to what you've completed periodically, but the only ETA you should be giving is "it's done when it's done". Anything more specific than that shouldn't exceed "ETA in year 20xx". Seen this happen too many times when folks are too optimistic about what is essentially contractless volunteer work.
WrongTypeOfHero 8 Jul @ 12:26am
Congrats! And I totally get that, so no worries! Best of luck to ya!
batsonline  [author] 7 Jul @ 11:13pm
Giving ETAs has been pretty much nothing but a mistake, but I'll say this: I finished another major round of work today and I hope to be testing everything tomorrow. Release is close at hand, I just can't be much more specific than that.
WrongTypeOfHero 7 Jul @ 6:32pm
Any ETA or ideas on how much longer we've got until full release?
batsonline  [author] 4 Jul @ 3:38am
Nothing but good news: Musical zombies is fixed and functional , and also, you guys are gonna' LOVE the Encore expansion and the huge update more than DOUBLING the Home Labelled branch, stuffing both with some absolute bangers and classics that I missed out on. I mean some REAL great shit.

If you care me <3 you'll download Home Labelled when the time comes, there's so much good shit getting dumped into it. From 90 songs to 225! On top of the now 355 songs in the new Encore expansion... you may want a little disc space!

Gonna' be hard at work tomorrow!
estrojyn 2 Jul @ 5:29pm
im super super hyped for this mod!! i cannot play regular zomboid without it tbh. thank yall for putting in so much work for this mod
batsonline  [author] 1 Jul @ 11:46pm
@Ariex True Music Radio and this mod will operate so independently that I'd actually recommend using them together to even further expand your True Music features. True Music radio focuses on creating in-game radios for players, while our radios are preset and scripted outside of the game.

The end result is that you can have MFTEOTW's scripted radio stations, presented like in-universe survivor radio stations with dialogue and all, and also your own player-created radios!
Ariex 1 Jul @ 11:39pm
@batsonline.ttv . I must confess I am just waiting for this patch to start playing again. This is awesome, I love all the patchnotes!

It reads as if you're aiming to essentially incorporate True Music Radio within your mod, can you comment on that?

Looking forward to get my hands on your stellar work!
batsonline  [author] 1 Jul @ 11:07pm
If you'd like to view the feature list of MFTEOTW 2.0 in advance of its release to kind of get an idea of the scope of the work that we're doing, here's the upcoming patchnotes [pastebin.com].
WrongTypeOfHero 1 Jul @ 9:04pm
oh thats cool a fuck
Garfield. 1 Jul @ 6:53pm
that is such a cool idea, i hope you get it working soon :steamhappy:
batsonline  [author] 1 Jul @ 6:26pm
A little update just to clarify: Right now, our big delay is that one of our systems ran into an issue. Our musical zombies update, which would allow zombies to play music (as MFTEOTW 2.0 comes with special zombies that will wear a boombox that is still playing), is having some trouble with the way that PZ handles spawning logic. That has slowed down our work a fair bit, but it shouldn't delay us from releasing the mod more than a matter of days/a couple weeks at the absolute worst.

We hope to get the issue resolved soon, but Albion doesn't have infinite time to work on this mod! Rest assured that active work is ongoing and that we'll have the finished mod to you soon enough!
Gab 27 Jun @ 6:13pm
@batsonline.ttv
Thank you for clarifying.
batsonline  [author] 27 Jun @ 2:03pm
@Gab Per your question: The update will not strictly require a new save to my knowledge, but you will be enormously benefited by starting one.
batsonline  [author] 27 Jun @ 2:03pm
Hi folks, little update: The release window is now 'sometime in the next few days'. It's obviously folly to keep setting hard dates, but we're making amazing progress every day and we're rapidly approaching release!

I'm sorry we couldn't nail the exact date, but the good news is that we're *basically* done. We need just a bit of time to put everything together for release and make sure everything is functional, but this is by no means a serious delay--MFTEOTW *will* release within the next week, barring a completely unforeseeable occurrence. Realistically, it will probably release within 3 days, but that's veering into hard date territory again!

If you're somehow mad at me, just remember: I sunk a lot of money and personal time into this mod which I will not reap back in any way! I'm doing this not only for free but at great cost, so cut me some slack!
Gab 27 Jun @ 10:44am
Hm, would the new update require a new save, or would it be compatible with old saves?

Saw an older message regarding B42 compatibility in february but I'm not clear whether that's regarding this update now in particular.
WrongTypeOfHero 27 Jun @ 10:23am
Can you believe it guys? Music for the End of the World 2.0 update, today! Music for the End of the World 2.0 update is in a few hours! Woohoo! I am so happy about this information. Music for the End of the World 2.0 update! Today, oh wow. Can you believe it? Music for the End of the World 2.0 update! Just in a few hours! It got here so fast! Music for the End of the World 2.0 update! Today!
certi 24 Jun @ 3:27pm
Gotcha. Not really like super important or anything, was just curious about it, thanks
batsonline  [author] 24 Jun @ 3:23pm
That is an interesting question. We'll look into hopefully fixing those songs for normal use but still requiring TCCacheMP.
certi 24 Jun @ 3:14pm
Will the songs that were getting removed due to overlap w/ TCCacheMP end up staying? I don't think that that one is on B42, since I think it's just something that was for MP compatibility but happened to have some songs built in. Really glad you're still working on this.
WrongTypeOfHero 17 Jun @ 12:03pm
Take as long as ya need Bats, youve been transparent with us so we can wait!
batsonline  [author] 17 Jun @ 10:38am
Hey folks, bits of good news and a little bit of bad news! The bad news first: We're delaying until June 27th. We just want one more week to test, finish tidying things up, and make sure things are all situated without rushing it out the door.

The good news is that this is a significantly smaller delay than I was honestly expecting when I first put this date down. You'll remember that I said June 20th was a 'tentative, non-solid' date, and I was really expecting to have to delay it by more than just a week!

We've made tons of good progress and I'm very happy with the direction things are moving in at the moment. Thanks for being patient with us!
Cancer 10 Jun @ 7:56am
LETS GOOOOO. this and multiplayer are the two things I've been waiting for
batsonline  [author] 9 Jun @ 9:35pm
Hi folks! Pleased to report that we made huge strides today in finishing some of the most annoying work. I'm not going to say anything more concrete than this, but we're hoping to release a little ahead of schedule~.

Now would be a good time to get those last minute requests into the Song Request Box, because I will be finalizing Encore's tracklisting and implementing it on Wednesday. When that happens, Encore's tracklist will be set for a while until it gets its first update a ways down the line. I particularly need songs from during or before 1993, but I will accept any that fall into the 1994-2004 range as well.
WrongTypeOfHero 8 Jun @ 5:46pm
Done and done! More than happy to support ya works!
batsonline  [author] 8 Jun @ 2:35pm
I'd like to make a small offer as well: Any one of five people who donate $10+ to the listed PayPal in the description will receive their own song, with minimal restrictions on genre/source and none on time period, included in the Encore pack as an easter-egg. I'm not in dire straits, but y'know, people do patreon rewards and all that, and I did put a bunch of money into the mod commissioning code--I thought it wouldn't hurt to reap a little~.

If you make such a donation, you can add me on steam and I'd be happy to discuss your request. I'll also make little references to you in the dialogues that I'm writing for the hosts, and I will also officially name one of the custom survivor zombies coming to MFTEOTW 2.0 after you as well!

For transparency: the Encore pack is a separate expansion pack that can be installed and enabled separately from the main mod. It has a lot of extra easter-egg tracks that go into the Easter Egg drop pool, which will include yours.
WrongTypeOfHero 8 Jun @ 10:58am
Can you let us know where the forum is located? I'm very blind when it comes to looking for things and cant seem to find it :spiffo:
batsonline  [author] 8 Jun @ 10:36am
The final stretch of work is to commence tomorrow. You may see a release ahead of schedule depending on how lucky we are.

Now would be the time to send song requests. I have (or will, momentarily) re-opened the forum that existed for this purpose. Please send requests there, for inclusion in the upcoming Encore expansion pack that will add 150-200 songs depending on the number of requests received.
Hashashin Fida'yin 3 Jun @ 10:16pm
Wanted to leave my message saying thank you for all the hard work! Your mod is a MUST in my playthroughs. No matter how long it takes I am looking forward to the new updated version. Thank you all for what you do!! You all do not get enough credit and praise!
Salatus 2 Jun @ 3:48pm
It makes me so happy to see this mod still being worked on and I can't wait for the new update. Playing B42 without this isn't quite the same!
WrongTypeOfHero 17 May @ 9:29pm
@batsonline.ttv Fuck yeah mate, glad to see we got an official date!

Can't wait to use this in B42!
Rusty #DopeRust 12 May @ 2:02pm
@batsonline.ttv, that is great news, eagerly, patiently awating for the update.

Cheers.
batsonline  [author] 12 May @ 1:40pm
Work resumes tomorrow.

I'm setting a tentative, non-solid release date to which I will try to stick:

June 20th, MFTEOTW 2.0 will be coming.
Cash 5 May @ 4:17am
I would love to simply thank the mod creators for literally adding in ~50 songs in my playlist. Take care of yourselves, hope the moving will go smoothly, change is for the best
Rusty #DopeRust 16 Apr @ 5:54am
@batsonline, okay, when you drop this update i will test it out, and give feedback, this was a must for me in the past build, glad is coming back.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for bring it back and for the amazing work you guys provide the community with.

Cheers,
batsonline  [author] 16 Apr @ 5:50am
@Rusty #DopeRust Thank you very much! Our expectation is, at least for the moment, that the two systems will functionally work independent of each other as long as you use the sandbox settings to avoid any frequency overlaps. They are extremely different in execution even if they are superficially similar--to the extent that I'd probably run both concurrently myself!
Rusty #DopeRust 16 Apr @ 5:46am
@batsonline, amazing work, eagerly expecting this update, i expect it will work with True Radio Station, since it seems to have those dialogues for stations?

Cheers.
batsonline  [author] 16 Apr @ 2:22am
For those interested, I've prepared a set of samplers for the host dialogues from the upcoming update. This is the part of the mod in which I had the most creative expression and did something other than just cobbling together garbage code and begging Albion for functional code, so I'm eager to share it with you all.

https://imgur.com/gallery/mfteotw-host-samples-xuqXDuA

Each host will have many dialogues like these, that will play sparely at routine and predictable times on a(n in-game) monthly basis alongside many other smaller dialogues. Tell me what you think!
Box Lover 13 Apr @ 4:05pm
@batsonline
For sure, happy to help~ HMU anytime and I'll respond when I can.

And TY for the info on the songs / why there's no fork, appreciated.

Good luck with the move. : )
batsonline  [author] 13 Apr @ 2:36pm
@Box Lover Honestly, maybe I'll consider it. Thank you for volunteering your help.

The songs past '93 are toggleable, in that you can disable the pack and they won't show up. However, you unfortunately still have to download them--and there's a bunch of interconnected reasons as to why I don't want to make a fork without them, as much as I've considered doing so. Realistically, the 250 songs is not that much space--it amounts to about a gigabyte, which is a fair amount, but it isn't gonna' kill ya'.

As for others:

I will be resuming work on this mod in May, and expect the B42 version to release sometime in early June. We will be moving, and hopefully that will massively improve both my living situation and my workflow (i.e. the physical space I inhabit, it's actually really hard to type for long periods of time right now) in a way that will allow me to resume development.

No more delays.
