my boat has speed of 150 kmh, is that can break the controller?
Zizo  [author] 5 Mar @ 5:48am
Hello Rakai Pring Ombang, I did not. While it could be a nice idea, usually what makes noise underwater also moves so by the time you take a second and third measurement, you cannot compare to the first one to figure out the position.
Rakai Pring Ombang 5 Mar @ 4:15am
hey zizo, do you have this triangulation algorithm applied to a passive sonar microcontroller?
Really Sirius 20 Oct, 2024 @ 4:12pm
Sooo... what if the physics sensor doesn't have a green or red arrow? just two blue arrows?
I am VERY CONFUSED.
RenTheOriginal 16 Sep, 2024 @ 7:03pm
I put your transponder on all my ships; thanks Zizo!
Matt039 27 Aug, 2024 @ 1:46am
I found a really good one that i like. I might just use that instead
Zizo  [author] 26 Aug, 2024 @ 8:33am
Hello @Matt039, if you don't want to use the transponder on your vehicle, it's not necessary for the transponder location function.
Matt039 23 Aug, 2024 @ 4:18pm
do i have to connect it to a transponder even tho i dont want to use a transponder?
TheLostFox 23 Aug, 2024 @ 8:36am
@matt make sure that you connect it to a trasponder and a transponder locator to there correct ports, should work with any creation
Matt039 21 Aug, 2024 @ 10:24pm
i might just try it in a fresh new creation if my own just to make sure that is actually works for me
Matt039 21 Aug, 2024 @ 10:23pm
i am sure i connected all the components and checked twice. it's probably something to do white the creation i am using.
Zizo  [author] 20 Aug, 2024 @ 11:52pm
Hello @Matt039 and @alfox. Despawning of components of your vehicle does not occur since the space update (even if you don't have the DLC).

The issue you are having with the transponder is most likely with incorrect installation of the product. Check all composite logic nodes as well as electricity to the sensors/components.
Matt039 20 Aug, 2024 @ 10:22pm
hmm, i wouldn't know what part of the creation i am using that would be left behind and despawn. i do have a different beacon locator that works well, but it doesn't have a map :(
alfox 20 Aug, 2024 @ 8:42am
oh yeah you have to add a block that make so that part of the original vehicle don't despawn otherwise if you make a ship with multiple part and left one part somewhere it will despawn
Matt039 20 Aug, 2024 @ 3:32am
idk if its just me, but every time i move like 500m from where i spawned my ship the locator starts doing its thing where my boat has spawned, and there is no transponder that i left behind or something. is this normal?
Lord_Bison 19 May, 2024 @ 7:20am
Love this Locator! My old buddy used to say, If the game lets you do it, it ain't cheating. ;)
Javitu 5 Feb, 2024 @ 7:51pm
Found and installed! works great!
Javitu 5 Feb, 2024 @ 7:45pm
I cannot find it
Mongrade 12 Nov, 2023 @ 3:39pm
Hey, not sure if you would even bother with the current state of the game, but if the transponder locator's monitor is off and is kept off for an extended period of time, when the monitor is eventually turned on, the location shown on the map is as far south in the world as possible to the point where the monitor just shows grey (out of bounds). This probably has to do with the changes to the boundaries of the world "wrapping around" now for the Space DLC, which I do not have. Not sure is this is a LUA programming issue, or an actual bug with how physics sensors and monitors work post-Space DLC. Hopefully it can be LUA programmed out regardless. Amazing job on the actual locator. Cheers.
Peekofwar 21 Jul, 2023 @ 12:00pm
Can confirm it works since I've tested this before, so it is likely either user error or there was no active transponder in range.
Karl Jonas P 19 Jul, 2023 @ 6:23am
ok
Zizo  [author] 19 Jul, 2023 @ 3:12am
That means there is no active transponder in range to find. And if there is you probably didn't connect the on/off on the transponder locator block itself.
Karl Jonas P 19 Jul, 2023 @ 2:47am
when i do all the stuff right the monitor just say no signal
Peekofwar 5 Mar, 2023 @ 8:25pm
Oh. Yeah, I think that might actually be how it works. I'd have to test it to be sure though (unless it's literally stated in a component description somewhere).
Zizo  [author] 5 Mar, 2023 @ 11:09am
Hey Peekofwar, if there are multiple transponders I believe the locator only beeps for the closest one so this system also detects just the closest one.
Peekofwar 3 Mar, 2023 @ 4:11pm
I'm going to assume that if there are multiple transponders, this will mess with the calculation. Am I correct?

SpiderPotato 15 Jan, 2023 @ 10:53am
Disregard, found out the gps sensor had no power
SpiderPotato 15 Jan, 2023 @ 10:48am
When I cycle infinite electric on and off it jumps by 20% and then goes back to 0%
SpiderPotato 15 Jan, 2023 @ 10:43am
I'm constantly stuck where it says Load 20% what do I do
JoshBoshGames 8 Nov, 2022 @ 4:52pm
Thanks so much, you saved me a lot of wasted time!
Ari Ari 3 Aug, 2022 @ 9:05am
Oh wait nvm i got it
Ari Ari 3 Aug, 2022 @ 8:16am
I looked through the LUA to see if I could do it but I couldn't find a way...
Ari Ari 3 Aug, 2022 @ 8:14am
Could you make it work on other screens rather than a 1x1?
alfox 12 Jul, 2022 @ 5:15am
you can merge build i don't exatly rember what this is called in the game but it's at the same place than the wire option paint and suppr option to the top left corner of the screen
Zizo  [author] 16 Jun, 2022 @ 8:29am
Hey MHick, sure you can.
MHick 15 Jun, 2022 @ 4:57pm
Can we use this on our builds with credit?
Brygun 15 Jun, 2022 @ 11:27am
Your welcome Zizo.

I even installed it on an ATV I downloaded from the workshop. The MC went on as a side bag while the tiny 1x1 monitor could be fit in several places on the limited ATV dashboard area. Turns out needing a compass for this MC also helps the ATV as it now has a visible compass needle for navigating.
Zizo  [author] 15 Jun, 2022 @ 11:23am
Hey Brygun, thanks for explaining so well the way this microprocessor works, I couldn't do it better myself. Happy you are satisfied with the locator.
Brygun 14 Jun, 2022 @ 9:34pm
So I had a "No Signal" problem while testing but turns out it was because the test sender was less than 300 m away. I had just parked a small vehicle with a beacon outside the garage. His notes already caution of under 300 m gets wonky.
Others doing testing need to drive the test beacon or the vehicle being tested at least that 300 m away. On Creative Island I used the far end of the Sandy Beach. That would at least get the 20% first signal. The data started to accumulate as I drove my boat out to the ocean.

I like how well automated this is.
At one point it had grabbed the wrong overlap of circles but as I got closer to that suggested point it figured it out and corrected the position to the actual place I left the vehicle.

Its also very nice that it only needs a 1x1 monitor. Pilot visual space is very limited and that helps. Also the bigger monitors cost way more.

It works great! I put it on my boat when I was puzzled trying to find another boat on a mission, it led me right to it!
Zizo  [author] 8 Jun, 2022 @ 8:34am
20% means it only has recorded data from 1 position.
To triangulate at least 3 different positions are needed, sometimes even more for precise calculations.
You need to move around a bit with your vehicle, and you'll see it will record all the data it needs and only then give you the precise location of the transponder.
MichaelJMAD 7 Jun, 2022 @ 8:42pm
Stuck on 20% aswell
theawesomegamer 7 Jun, 2022 @ 4:27pm
stuck at "loading 20%"
Zizo  [author] 6 Apr, 2022 @ 7:59am
Hello Moss Moss, make sure you have your transponder locator active with a toggle button and connected to electricity. Also make sure there actually is a transponder active to locate not further than 30 km from you.
Moss Moss 6 Apr, 2022 @ 12:44am
I get a no Signal ???
NoWayOut8344 4 Apr, 2022 @ 1:08pm
Nice, had the same idea, saw it on the workshop, saved time.
Zizo  [author] 15 Mar, 2022 @ 9:57am
Hey LazyChasy, thanks for your feedback, appreciate it.
LazyChasy 15 Mar, 2022 @ 9:04am
i was starting to the idea of beacon triangulation but you beat me to it, and definitely better than i was planning to do. gj man:steamthumbsup:
Zizo  [author] 12 Mar, 2022 @ 5:40pm
Hello al, the whole point of this system is not having to place three locators on the map and be able to have the location faster and with decent reliability.
They way this system works is by storing the data it recorded every 200 meters, and triangulating out of the most reliable of all the data: it's not just the same as placing different locators around but better.
If you are still looking for a radio system it's already plenty of good ones in the workshop.
