There do seem to be other mods that increase the active crew count, though, and they should be fully compatible with this mod as long as they don't edit the ship.
If you did not have frackin universe installed when you created your ship/character, this mod won't work.
If you did have frackin universe installed but are using a race other than those from vanilla or frackin universe, you also needed the byos modded race patch installed when you created you ship/character, or else this mod won't work.
1. Do you have frackin universe installed, and did you have it installed when you created your character and ship?
2. Is your character of a race that isn't from vanilla or frackin universe itself? If so, did you have the BYOS modded race patch installed when you made your character? Even if you aren't using the byos ship, this is necessary - this mod only works on ships that had the option to choose byos.
3. Is your character of a race that isn't supported by the BYOS modded race patch? If so, your best bet is to find another, unofficial byos support patch for that race.
If none of these are the issue, I'm really not sure what else it could be. Occasionally during testing I would need to relaunch the game a couple times before things would take effect, so you could try that, I suppose.
@andymstanton the crew should not be deleted when the shipworld is deleted. Hope things worked out on your end.
@GodOfTheVoid the necessary mods would be frackin universe and, if you're using a modded race, the modded race patch. If you use a race not supported by the patch then theres no way for this mod to function, unless someone made an unofficial patch for that race.

It does seem like this isn't working at the moment, though, which is strange because it worked for me when I had just updated it. I'll see what I can do.
I tried to put 10 Crew Bunk (two-tiered) occupants +2, but with 12 or more people, the same overcapacity message as vanilla came out.
I've been putting this mod in since I put it in, do I need to cut it and put it in again?

The .shipworld file would be in the file at "Steam\SteamApps\common\Starbound\player". If you have multiple characters, make sure you delete the right .shipworld file.
Of course, that's a bit of a hassle, especially if you've been using your ship for a while. Just depends how much you want this mod, I suppose.
1) did you have frackin universe installed when you created your ship?
2) are you using a modded race without also using the modded race patch? if yes, it also needed to be installed when you made your ship.
3) did a custom ship mod or any other mod prevent you from choosing between byos and another ship at the start of the game?
The issue Soul had should have been fixed in the update I released yesterday.
Currently I'm an Eld'uukhar (dragon) and have had FU and the modded race patch installed since the beginning of our group's server.
It seems that the number of people that can be added varies depending on the crew bed, but it was full with 12 people (I made a new character and tried it, but it was full with 12 people).
The race is Ningen, and of course the "FU BYOS Modded Race Patch" introduced earlier is also included.
Also, if you are still using the Crew Size Overcapped mod, you should stop using it, as it hasn't been updated in 4 years and might potentially cause issues.
Perhaps due to FU, licenses are not sold (the selling place is Penguin bay in Outpost, right?)
Previously, I switched to this from the data of up to 24 people, but it was not working there either.
