There's actually a quasi famous futbol team in that area: "Quilmes is the oldest club of Argentina still competing in championships organised by the Argentine Football Association." But what I find really interesting about this 'not overly succesful soccer team' is that their field hockey team are a powerhouse of success and formidability. And what's really interesting about that is that field hockey came from native americans and is revered in their culture. I can't speak for Latin American tribes (because I don't know for sure) but for the North American tribes it is a sacred sport and almost a spiritual ritual.

So, the way I imagine it, this club, though originally founded by British immigrants (which is how football spread around the world) has had their field hockey team imbued with the spirits of the vanquished Quilmes tribe, and that's why it kicks so much ass.
