Sorry I am no longer modding or playing XCOM2.
the weapon shealth shows.
the one hanging from the side waist is a cosmetic attachment part
The mods i offer are the 2 standard mods that allow those additional parts to be removed and added at the time of this mod being created. There may have been other mod replacements or options that do the same thing but I wouldn't know as I'm not in XCOM2's modding scene for awhile now, hence it isn't listed as required. I personally do not have the ability to code that part nor do I want to intergrate into my mod as that would add more unforseeable mod conflicts.
The idea of the assets are as Soul said. I do not want the same Raidens in the squad and to have a proper Raiden keeping his own proportions would not match the proportions of XCOM soldiers at all that would cause even more eye jaring aesthetic issue, with Raiden face going to be quite a heck of a work to also be face animated and stay as himself that I chose not to go down that route.
The author addresses this issue the mod FAQs and offers a fix. Either way, in order to make this mod functional it requires the two mods that should be listed as required.
Aside from that, the assets are not personally to my taste. I feel they make characters look weirdly small or out of proportion, almost like they're emaciated.
Would not download, would not recommend, will be removing for my next run.

How to replace the original sword
There are no plans currently for another update until another visual overhaul for the sword with particle effects and so on, ...and I'm on a long break from modding XCOM2. As for now you can config the blade's stat for it to match or even out perform the Chosen's Katana in one way or another.
you can config all 3 tiers of the HF Blade in the config ini, and the stats are different when you upgrade the vanilla ranger sword, as the tier unlocks are tied to that.
Would it be possible to make Murasama the tier 2 and the Fox Blade the tier 3?
You can now config the blade values with the ini.
currently no as I read through my code, but I'm working on making it configurable as I type. Not sure to what extent as I figure it out but the basic damage stuff would be in when its done.
Is there any way to change stat of the weapon within your .ini, make it a standalonme sword maybe? I see the warning you wrote in the ini not to change anything or it will break, so I heed that warning without just messing with it. I have a mod that adds chance of Stun to tier 3 swords with configurable ini. From here I can modify Vanilla swords to add damage, stun, burn, etc... This sword doesn't reflect any of it.
I am not looking for an overpowered sword. I have several modded swords like the Katana pack, and I love the Vorpal blade that gives 1 extra free move (with cool down). So for a sword to fit into my arsenal I would need it to at least increase damage (probably the quickest thing to do).
I want to know your next MOD
When will it be released? :-
Conventional Sword
Not cosmetic
I havent changed the mod as you may notice so if it worked before and not now, try out solutions in the mod troubleshooting wiki https://www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/mod_troubleshooting
I don't even know what's wrong since I've used this mod before in a previous run and the sword was there.
but it does work, checked by that mod author himself:
