Boot to the Cube

Description
My second Hammer-forged PeTI map, now revised and with extra GLaDOS flavor. Basic puzzle structure sketched out in PeTI, then detailed and optimized in Hammer. At its heart this is a cube-transportation puzzle with a few twists, some gel use and creative portal placement required. With so many open portal surfaces there are multiple ways to get most of the cubes, but one easy, "optimal" way for each.

Revision 2:
- Added a player clipping brush covering the faith plate on the wall to prevent the player getting into an inescapable faith plate loop. You must be a cube to ride this ride, kids. ;)
- Added noportal volumes to the BTS areas to prevent players from portaling up to them. Gaze upon them from afar--they're not so pretty if you actually manage to get up there.
- Added glass covers over the sides of a couple of the steps to prevent players rebounding off the bounce gel when they're just trying to climb the steps.
- Minor texture tweaking to hint at solutions.

Revision 3:
- Added situation-appropriate demotivators from everyone's favorite passive-aggressive homicidal AI, GLaDOS.
- New BG music.
- Those glass covers didn't work as well as hoped. Removed them and instead just made the ceiling above the steps a NPS so they won't get painted. It takes a few moments longer to get up there, but no more frustrating bounce gel deaths.
- Made a column of tiles on the back wall NPS so that the player can't fling the first cube into the (then-unreachable) faith plate loop.
- Added more texture hints.
- Significantly revamped signage to better guide the player.
- Fixed an obscure but visible nodraw surface.

Very nice map. Super challenging. I did the ending as intended, but I think I got the first cube differently. I dropped it onto the spotlight so it would bounce toward me and then caught it through the lasers.

I was about to give up in the begining, but at last saw the answer...
I am glad that I didn't have to start from the very begining each time :steamhappy: :steamhappy: :steamhappy:

Very fun, very challenging...at time frustrating, but in a good way! Great job!

Oh holy hell!! This one was a definite puzzle. Unhackable too. You thought of everything. I spent more time looking around for angles and ways of getting somewhere before i could manipulate anything. I feel this one was very clever and well thought out. It killed me a few times, but that was because I wasn't thinking. Solving this one was an obsession for me, and I wasn't going to let it get me down. At the very end, I felt it necessary to throw that last turret into the fizzler in order to vent my frustration! Thanks for a fun map. Keep up the good work.

very good map.
my hardest parts were, getting the cube onto the speed gel button.
& getting off the light bridge, to the exit area.
after some frustratment, my memory clicked in.
as you had sort of already shown us how to reach the exit area :)
very well thought out.
almost to hard for me.
great satisfaction at the exit :)

getting the second cube to the red gel is really overally annoying and not a good mechanic.
