Description
When interacting with containers, move the inventory and container windows so they don't obscure the area near the player.

This is a purely client-side mod and should be compatible with all other mods.

*** TL;DR: Starbound v1.1 saves your inventory window location and puts the container window 4 pixels to the right. This mod changes 4 pixels to 160 pixels, which means you must manually move the inventory window to the left ONCE ***

Starbound v1.1: The devs have quietly changed the way window placement works: The game now seems to remember where you place your inventory window and container windows are positioned relative to the right edge of the inventory window. Unfortunately, the inventory window is reset to the center when you exit and re-enter the game world.

I'm going to call that a BUG in Chucklefish's code--and because of it, you must now move the inventory window to the left manually, once every game session. And given that bug, this mod still functions identically as before--creating a 160-pixel space between the inventory and container windows.

"My tooltips are cut off... can you fix these too?"

I may already have :) Please see the UI Tweak Collection here:

--

"But you can already do this?"

Yes, you can move the windows manually--but they reset every time you interact with a container or merchant.

"I want to change the gap size..."

I got it working again, but i have to move my window to a certain spot for the windows to separate. fortunately it's around the same spot as i usually kept it.

A simple "add" fix this mod.

randomly stopped working mid playthrough. game is basically unplayable without this mod since sifting through containers is a good chunk of the game.

some bugs i found , like if you put the inventory next to you life and open for exemple the cointainer or mech edit table this ones dont open on the other side , they open on top of you inventory

someone should porobably mention that you can move the windows without the mod now

you could create a mod to remove items after death, its working principle is quite simple, but it would give a completely different approach to the game, if all items from the inventory were completely removed after death, it would create a positive circulation of weapons and armor, which would equalize the balance of resources and items in large modpacks

After 5 years I came back to play Starbound again, and I had an issue with the gap size. Turns out that I already fixed that 5 years ago and made a tutorial here ^^

It works perfectly but you should moves your player UI far enough to the left side of the screen once every time you log into game. You also can check this mod:
https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1430852353 to adjust the distance between your container and your player UI which makes this mod activated.
