While UniSec eventually canceled development of the gun intended to be mounted on the HV-12 platform, the change in fundamental purpose of the vehicle did not negate the potential for carrying a heavier armament. With the addition of the Ballistech AT-155 rifled cannon on a remote controlled turret mount, the Kontos APC became the Xyston IFV. The Xyston went on to see service with many private military contractors. Still equipped with the APC mod B package which allows up to four weapons to be mounted on side sponsons, the Xyston is capable of threatening all targets and maintaining withering firepower in any direction. There have been no changes to the armor or the layout of the internal cabin from the Kontos. It is not uncommon for end users to remove the upper rotary autocannons and replace them with Sigma Arms M-135 'Mephisto' turreted rocket launchers.
