Corellian YV-545: Star Wars (Dx11 Rebuild)

Description
The YV-545 light freighter was a light freighter produced by the Corellian Engineering Corporation in an attempt to replace the aging YT series freighters. Although designed as the next generation of Corellian Engineering Corporation freighters, the YV-545 never quite gained the popularity of its predecessor. – Wookiepeedia

Sometimes, to move forward, you need to take a couple steps back. This is a complete re-build of one of the first ships I ever published, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I’m glad I took the time to do it.

If Space Engineers ever comes out with something akin to a persistent universe (a la Star Citizen or EVE), this is the ship I’ll be using. For sure.

Original is here, if anyone’s interested. https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=504507716

Also, if you’re looking for something similar, check out KindomBragg’s Ebon Hawk, because awesome. https://steamproxy.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=573473146

A note on the Mods: subscribing and loading the world will give you all the mods I used automatically, you don't need to go subscribe to them all beforehand. I tired to keep it a little more reasonable this time (hard to believe, but it's true). The list on the right are the mods that will keep the ship looking and working as it does now. There's a couple I left off that are purely for prettiness (i.e. Armor without edges)

Also, sorry for the crappy screenshots. I have this strange lighting situation happening... everything is super bright and weird

FEATURES:

• World Save; mods will be downloaded for you automatically, don’t worry about tracking them all down.
• Dx11
• Fully capable of landing and taking off from planets
• Life support, airlock and fully piped (including weapons)
• Docking Sequence (more on that… see below)
• 10,000 km Jump Range
• 200+ PL Cargo Capacity
• Twin Hidden Turbolasers
• Hidden Smuggling Compartment
• Room for 2 crew and up to 4 passengers
• Holographic Entertainment

THINGS YOU REALLY NEED TO KNOW:

Transfer ownership to you if you want access to the smuggling compartment.

The airlock is as simple as it gets; one button to pressurize and one to de-pressurize. Doors and ramp will all close if doing either. I may implement something more automated in the future but for now, it works, and that’s good enough for me.

Open gun ports and turn on turbolasers with #1 on the toolbar. (It’s a smuggling ship; need to keep the hardware out of sight)

I use a lot of semi-colons; it’s my favourite kind of punctuation. Deal with it.

LANDING

Alright, I admit I may have gone a little overboard with this. Bear with me.

#7 on the toolbar extends the landing skids, #9 retracts them, #8 sets them to .5 m (I’ll explain why in a sec).

#5 on the toolbar toggles your landing thrusters. #6 toggles the downward facing T4 armor thruster. With both on, you’ll hover comfortably in 1G (earth-like) gravity. With 6 off but 5 on, you’ll gently float downwards, like a leaf on the wind (bonus points for anyone who gets the quote). This is very useful in coming to a soft landing on a planet, as you can get within a couple feet of the ground, turn off #6 and let gravity bring you down the rest of the way. Once you’re down MAKE SURE both 5 and 6 are OFF.

Because the landing skids don’t actually lock to a surface, I’ve implemented a complicated and probably completely unnecessary “parking” system. Get out of the ship and find the button marked “Lower & Lock”. It will bring the ship down by two meters, raise the boarding ramp and attach to whatever you’ve landed on via three maglocks on the lower hull. Another button called “Raise & Unlock” will reverse the process. You may see sparks, but it doesn’t seem to cause any actual damage. THIS WILL ONLY WORK IF DOWNWARD POINTING THRUSTERS ARE TURNED OFF. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

If you’re docking in zero grav, you can set the skids to the right height using #8 and just use the maglocks as normal landing gear.

Alright, I think that’s it. Let me know any feedback please!
