ScaleUI (beta)

Description
This Mod is not maintained anymore

There will be no more changes to this mod. If you wish to continue to develop this mod, please fork the source code and send me a message, and I will link to the new version.

ScaleUI adds buttons to scale / resize the complete user interface in Cities: Skylines.

Usage

Activate the mod, load or start a new game (editors not yet supported/tested), then click the new buttons in the top right corner to change the scale. If you use Mod Corral, the buttons will be there.

To reset the scale to default values, hit Ctrl+0.

Known issues

This method only works to a certain scale, after which elements will overlap or be out of screen. In that case, either reset the scale or hit the (-) button to decrease it a step. If a reset doesn't work, quicksave your game with F1 and exit with Alt+F4.

The scaling value is not saved permanently, only when you load a savegame while in a city.

If you use other mods which add UI elements, this mod will probably reposition them off-screen.

You might need to re-subscribe to the mod to have the game recognize the latest version (1.2).

Please report any issues you find.

Changelog

1.1:
* Removed unnecessary space in policies panel so it resizes better.

1.2:
* Added support for scaling < 1. Once you decrease the scale to smaller than default, the mod will change how much is rendered on screen. This is the same as using free camera mode. Therefore you can expect a tiny drop in FPS. For default scaling and bigger, the mod does not change how much of the game is rendered.

* Added support for Mod Corral. Right now, the buttons are not removed correctly, but it still works.

* Code cleanup

Hey all,
I've forked this mod and updated it. The info view alignment issue is now fixed. I've also replaced the buttons with an option slider. Best of all, the scaling you set is persistent and will load automatically each game. Link: ScaleUI

@permutation, if you see this, can you please link the mod here?

Sadly, the info view is half blocked. That means you miss the entire left row of the info views! Works wonderfully otherwise.

Not usable on Microsoft Surface Book because it puts the "Info Views" and in game menu exit buttons off screen no matter what size the UI is scaled to.

As a followup, it works equally well in the campus update, but the out of place changes from other mods are kind of a pain. I think IPT2 is leading to the transport line overview being messed up unless you resize while it's open. It's a shame the game isn't built to allow this.

This actually seems to work for me, in 1.11, but I can't speak for the campus update coming out in under a day.
It's not perfect - a couple mod icons like Move It and Prop It Up don't stay in their spot on the bar. Since I made the UI smaller, they're floating in the middle of my screen now. It might be worth it to shrink that horrendous public transport UI though :P

I know this mod is no longer maintained but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway, especially because I haven't found any other similar mod. For anyone with a similar thought: I have to disappoint you. The UI scaling works but trees don't render anymore and it becomes impossible to place anything (roads, buildings etc). I also got an error message when I loaded a map, that persisted even after disabling the mod. So if anyone wants to try it nonetheless, I suggest to not use your most important savegame.

I do hope someone will continue this mod someday; the UI when playing on a 1440p monitor is simply way too large.

@Mikko.Kekalainen: I've created an issue on the GitHub repo for this feature request. Don't expect it too soon, though. I'd already tried to implement it from the beginning and failed.
