Mark III Mining Rig

This mining ship is my 3rd redesign from a model I created with a friend during our first foray into Space Engineers. From the moment I discovered that I could mount a drill onto a small ship, the hand drill no longer satisfied me.

The Mark III's design allows for trouble free tunneling within asteroids. This ship is survial ready and is usable with thruster damage enabled. All drills are connected to a medium storage container via the convey system. The Access to this storage is located on the underside of the ship.

Maintence required is minimal. The only major work that needs to be done to this ship is on the drills themselves and the exterior plating. The drills were placed so that the entire body of the ship could not only follow the drills but have room to manuever without hitting the tunnel walls. This particular ship has all of its thrusters recessed within the body. This allows you to (inevitably) bounce off tunnel walls without a chain reaction of thrusters exploding. The cockpit itself is surronded by multiple layers. I do no recommend removing the top armor of the cockpit as that is its most vulnerable point and will result in a destroyed cockpit very quickly.

Please note that this is not simply a "turn the drills on and forget about it" This old girl kicks like a mule and as such needs constant adjustments to keep your rear end from bouncing.
