Weather Moodles [B42]

Description
Adds moodles to indicate current weather conditions.
Currently has moodles for Cloud, Rain, Snow, Wind, Fog, Sun, Moon, Storm, Blizzard, Tropical Storm and Seasons.

The moodles are purely visual. They do not provide any (de)buffs.
The good/bad color settings are player preference.

Updated for B42

Why this mod?
To further immerse myself in the game, I've always wanted to be able to see the sky.
Or, generally, have more information so I can properly visualize my surroundings.
This mod will help with that by indicating what is currently happening above our heads.

How does it work?
It reads the weather related variables from the game and conveys that data through moodles.
To create the moodles with ease, I used the MoodleFramework mod, so it's required.
Options to toggle certain moodles on/off or their good/bad status.
An on/off hotkey, default "Right Control" key.

To do
(maybe...)
  • Update icons so they are better visible against the moodle background
  • Add sandbox settings
(said to be better for dedicated servers)
  • Make it split screen compatible
(Tchernobill: MoodleFramework (v1.10) can now be split screen compatible.
    Use MF.getMoodle(*,playerNum) instead of MF.getMoodle(*))
  • Unique moodles for combinations of weather conditions
(partly done. currently supporting built-in extreme weather events)
  • A new weather event
(not a built-in event moodle, but something custom)
  • Seperate Blizzard into 2 moodles
(The game has a single Blizzard event whether it's snowing or raining)
(But Rain Blizzard should not exist)
(Maybe the game never triggers Blizzard during rainy seasons, idk)
  • Buff/Nerf stats based on weather conditions
(would be optional as well as customizable)
  • Sun/Moon light strength moodle
  • Descriptions(flavor text or extra info) for moodles
(pull data from weather broadcast maybe?)

Notes
  • Soft conflict with Moodles in lua [B42]
    - Moodles will be misaligned. Workaround:
    - Options > User Interface(UI) > Moodle Size > (choose a number, do not use 'scale with font size')
  • Safe to add/remove mid-save.
  • Multiplayer? No idea.
  • Feedback/Suggestions are welcome.
Supported Languages
I think the encoding of the files are broken for B42.
Please check and send them back to me with correct encodings.

I had no previous modding experience with anything.
The initial release took 2 days to make. It was fun.

Mod update: Moodle icons upscaled using AI

@明明灭灭 - This update should fix the blurriness.

For the icon alignment issue, Moodles in lua [B42] is causing it.
Workaround:
Options > User Interface(UI) > Moodle Size > (choose a number, do not use 'scale with font size')

Additionally, I've been using the [B42] Plain Moodle Resurrection mod recently. I noticed that the Weather Moodles' icons appear somewhat inconsistent in size compared to the vanilla game's moodles—they seem a bit too large and end up obstructing the Bar. Perhaps their position or size could be adjusted to make them more consistent with the B42 version of the game's moodles?
These are just some minor suggestions from my side—I hope you don't mind.

Perhaps consider having the Weather Moodles' image textures redrawn to make them appear sharper? I display them at a larger size in the UI options, but when enlarged, they look slightly blurry compared to the vanilla game's Moodles.

Thxs for that.

I had an older version downloaded. The link worked.

@mai72 - I'm not aware of an update on the game that would break functionality, so:
Make sure you are subscribed to the correct version of the mod for the version of your game. This page is for B42.
