Description
Now High Elves are what they should be--the best @#$% mages in Skyrim! This mod improves EVERYTHING about magic for High Elf and High Elf Vampire races. Changes affect the player race and NPCs, so High Elf followers and foes will be more powerful. The mod is completely safe, as no changes are permanent. If you unsubscribe, your abilities and powers return to what they were. It doesn't changes spells, so it should work with mods that add new spells. The duration and power bonuses should apply to new spells, too.

New and improved abilities and powers: Highborn Magicka Drain lesser power let's you absorb magicka from all foes around you! All spells now cost less to cast, last longer and are more powerful. All magic skills are learned quicker, and beginning stats for all magic schools are increased. Increased magicka regeneration is now a constant ability, instead of a power you can only use once a day.

1. Description
============

The goal of this series of mods is to make each race amazing. If a mod doesn't give a race powers and abilities you can't get from any other race, then it shouldn't be called Amazing Race Tweaks! Right? I've never played a High Elf, but after making this mod, I want to! The mod improves all things related to magic for the race--from stats, to spell duration and power, to the new Highborn Magicka Drain power and lesser power. (See Features of the Mod, below.)

2. Features of the Mod
===================

Highborn Magicka Drain. New power absorbs magicka from every foe nearby! Simply aim at a nearby target or the ground and activate the power. All in range lose 50 magicka a second, and you gain 50 magicka a second for 5 seconds. Once every 24 game hours you may use the power with no ill effects. If you use it more than once a day, your health and stamina are damaged slightly. (See New Highborn Magicka Drain Powers.)

Highborn Regeneration. The original power that let High Elves boost magicka regeneration only once a day is now a constant effect! There's no need to activate a power. Your magicka automatically regenerates 10% faster.

Highborn Mastery. All spells now cost 10% less to cast! This is in addition to other bonuses, which reduce spell-casting costs.

Highborn Knowledge. All magic skills--Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Enchanting, Illusion and Restoration--now improve 15% faster! This is in addition to other bonuses. (For example, if you have the Mage Standing Stone blessing, your magic skills will improve 35% (15%+20%) faster.)

Highborn Skills. All spells now last longer, are stronger, or both:

* Alteration spells are 20% stronger and last twice as long
(for example, Stone Flesh now lasts 2 minutes and gives you 1/5 more protection).

* Conjuration spells are 20% stronger and last twice as long
(so a conjured sword now lasts 4 minutes and does 1/5 more damage).

* Destruction spells do 20% more damage.

* Enchanting enchantments are 20% stronger
(also makes enchanted items worth more gold).

* Illusion spells last twice as long.

* Restoration spells heal 20% more.

Starting stats for new characters. Beginning stats are increased as follows. Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Enchanting, Illusion and Restoration: +10. The total skill bonus is increased from +30 to +60. Starting magicka remains at +50.

3. New Highborn Magicka Drain Powers
=================================

The new Highborn Magicka Drain gives mages, hagravens and dragon priests even more reason to fear you! But use the powers wisely. They effect hostiles and non-hostiles alike, but not followers. It's ideal if you take on a small force of spell casters, but use it in a town and guards or citizens might become hostile. The powers do not work on Dwarven machines.

In your magic menu, the powers are listed twice, as Highborn Magicka Drain and Magicka Drain (Additional Uses). The first is a power you may use once each game day, without ill effect. The second is a lesser power you may use as often as you like, with the side effect of slighly damaging your health and stamina. For example, if you use the power, you will absorb 50 magicka a second for 5 seconds from everyone within 50 feet. To continue the attack, you may use the lesser power to absorb an additional 50 magicka a second for 5 seconds, but you will lose 5 health and 15 stamina a second for 5 seconds--or 25 health and 75 stamina.

4. Safe for Existing Characters
==========================

The mod was tested, in game with an existing High Elf character downloaded as a saved game from NexusMods website. Tests verified the duration and power of the spells were increased, and the Magicka Drain power worked properly. Removing the mod was safe, as none of the new abilities and powers were permanent. You may subscribe to try it out. If you decide not to keep it, simply unsubscribe. Your abilities and powers will return to what they were before. For a new character, the stat bonuses will remain.

✓ Remember to Restart Skyrim
To make sure this mod loads, after subscribing, launch Skyrim, wait for the launch screen to display a message that all mods finished synchronizing, then exit Skyrim to the desktop. Relaunch Skyrim. The mod should now be loaded.

There are no known bugs. Please report any you think you find. Mods changing the weapons listed above might be incompatible.

DISABLING OR UNSUBSCRIBING

There's no need to unsubscribe. After subscribing, you may easily disable the mod at anytime:
  1. Start the Skyrim launcher
  2. Wait for it to display a message that mods finished synchronizing
  3. Select Data Files
  4. Remove the checkmark next to this mod
  5. Select OK and Play

was having issues with crashing upon opening spells tab but disabled sky UI and didn't have that issue anymore, does crash when highlighting highborn for me as well

Nevermind; the spell tab loads, but it still crashes if you highlight the "Highborn" ability.

Like many other users here, I also had the issue of the game continually crashing when trying to open the spell tab. After moving around my modlist and trying a bunch of different things with no success, I also tried disabling SkyUI like Thick McRunFast noted and that seems to have fixed it.

Have problem with High Elf - nexus version also doesn't work, Dark Elf, Imperial, Breton and Kajit. These races doesn't work. In character creation menu, the description is basic and it if I choos one of those and want to go to "magica menu", the game crashes. Other races are ok. Anyone knows why this could be? Could be problem with "Random Aleternate Start" mod? Reinstaling doesn't help.

Anyone having the jumping bug, disable race tweaks for kahjiit and you will be fine, but I would really only recommend having the one for your current character race enabled
