Highlander Immortals 2 - Upgradeable Immortality Deluxe

Description

Highlander Immortals 2 is a complete rework on the original my Highlander Immortals mod. Nearly every single line of code has been updated and many heavily requested features have been added to the mod. You can now spawn up to 100 immortal characters, there's a new activity for traveling across the world to hunt immortals, new victory options and so much more!

The mod itself is based on the classic 1986 film Highlander[en.wikipedia.org], which plot centres on immortals battling to the death until only one remains.

This mod distributes a new Immortal trait around the world which will gain experience upon killing other immortals, increasing your stats as well as other modifiers. AI immortals will actively hunt down other immortals whilst the player has many tools at their disposal to do so as well.

The ultimate reward awaits the final remaining immortal, will you be the immortal champion of the world? Or will you fall like the others (and then reload your last save😅).

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!

To start the mod, you need to use the decision called “Distribute Immortals” which assigns the Immortal trait to characters around the world and gives the option for the player(s) to be immortal as well.
Additionally, there's several Game Rules that let you configure who gets the Immortal trait. You can choose between 10, 20, 25, 50 and 100 immortal characters, you can choose where in the world you would like them to be assigned, you can choose the minimum title you would like the trait to be distributed to and so much more.

For example, if you selected in the Game Rules that you wanted 50 Immortals, only wanted Immortals to spawn in Europe and to only have a Kingdom or higher title, only the kings and emperors of Europe would gain the Immortal trait. As it's unlikely that there will be 50 kings and emperors in Europe (there's 21 in 1066), characters will be given additional Immortal Trait XP at distribution to account for the immortals that couldn't spawn.

When an immortal kills another immortal, they will gain Immortal trait XP equal to the XP the killed character has (this is called the Quickening). All characters are given a small amount of Immortal trait XP when they are given the trait, based on the number of immortals set in the Game Rules.
The Immortal Trait has 10 levels (starting at level 0) and upon gaining enough XP to reach the next level, the trait gets more powerful, but more on that later.

The Quickening will also give you a perk point for each level of education the killed immortal had, to simulate you draining their knowledge, so if you kill an immortal with a level 4 martial education, you would gain 4 martial perk points.

If an immortal is killed by a non-immortal (or in any other circumstance), their trait and trait XP will be redistributed to new immortals around the world, based on the distribution settings set in the game rules. You can also change the game rules to enable characters without the Immortal trait to gain immortality by killing an immortal, but this is off by default.

There are twelve levels of immorality, as shown below:
(D - Diplomacy, M - Martial, S - Stewardship, I - Intrigue, L - Learning, P - Prowess, HSS - Hostile Scheme Success)

All Immortal Characters are set as your rival upon gaining the trait which makes them easier to find and encourages the AI to try and kill you. A new feature of Highlander Immortals 2 also makes them easily searchable in the Character Finder as well.
The two easiest ways to kill an immortal character are through assassination or through duelling (which can be achieved by having the Stalwart Leader perk[ck3.paradoxwikis.com]), but any method of killing a character will work.

Once the first Immortal is slain by another Immortal, you will gain access to a new activity called “The Game”. The Game allows you to travel to the court of an Immortal and duel them to the death
You cannot target an immortal with the activity if they are unlanded or they are busy. Knowing where a landless adventurer half the world away is doesn't make sense and more importantly they can move and I don't wanna/know how to fix that. If you can't use the activity to hunt the immortal you are after, either get into diplo range and kill them the old fashioned way or wait for them to use the activity themselves and come for you.
The AI will use this activity as well but it is regulated so they don't spam it all the time and immediately kill half the immortals.

After you kill all the other Immortal characters and are the last character left with the Immortal trait, you are given a choice of rewards for completing the challenge. I won’t spoil that for you here, you will have to play the mod to find out.

  • No DLC required
  • Multiplayer compatible (Although not tested)
  • Kinda save game compatible (Just use the decision to start the mod with default settings)
  • No base game files were changed so incompatibility should be at a minimum
  • Should be compatible with 99% of mods including complete overhauls
  • Paradox Mods Version[mods.paradoxplaza.com]

Upcoming features and changelog can be found here[docs.google.com]

If you find any bugs or have any issues or suggestions for the mod, it’s always best to join my Discord[discord.gg] as steam's comment section is very limited in what you can do. If you are going to post a bug report, please give a detailed report of what happened and any other mods you are using at the time. (screenshots would be nice too!)
IF YOU CAN’T FIND THE DECISION TO START THE MOD, THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH YOUR GAME, NOT THIS MOD. PLEASE CLEAR YOUR LAUNCHER CACHE OR WHATEVER YOU NEED TO DO TO FIX MOD ISSUES. I will not help you with issues that are not related to the mod, I am not CK3 tech support.

  • Highlander[en.wikipedia.org] for giving me the idea
  • Myself for having the idea
  • Paradox for creating a beautiful game
  • Agami for help in CK3 modding Discord that made this whole mod come together and also for writing many of the modding guides on the wiki.

I can't seem to execute any type of hostile schemes on any rival immortals. Success chance is always -100% even though the scheme says 'Very Easy'.

Okay, I just realized that this is due to "Quickening Paranoia". Can you give us the option to disable this since the -1000% scheme potential debuff keeps stacking onto my targets when another immortal dies somewhere? I cant assassinate or kidnap any immortals like this!

So if i set it to allow overflow will it let me get my character to get to like 100 in all skills? Like in diplomacy and in the others skills?

There's a game rule that lets you gain over the default number of skill points, it's capped at 27 by default like in vanilla.

hey quick question i play this mod with my character at 100 maxed out in all of his skills bc in your mod options it says theres a kind of limit to how many skill points a immortal character can get. i would just want to know what is the mod you reference in the oprtion that lets me surpass that limit? i would really like to start as a 1 skill only or 0 skill only immortal character and than evolve into a 100 maxed out skill character naturally.

It'll only take 10 kills if you set it to 100 immortals. It is an option people requested but I'm not sure I would recommend it. And apparently the AI doesn't care about diplomatic range which I found out whilst making this mod.

Mmh i see, makes sense but very unfortunate.
This also causes people at the litteral other side of the map to try and murder scheme me or other stuff.... Plus the fact that getting a single immortal trait upgrade takes about 10 kills when the region locking apparently doesn't work....
Really wish this was less hardcoded/battle royale and more normal s:

Unfortunately, characters don't attempt to kill one and other unless they are rivals. It's sometimes annoying yes, but otherwise the player is the only one doing anything.

First time playing this mod and if the mod could change to be less immersion breaking that'd be nice. It feels too battle royale. (which is the point sure, but this is CK3)
The most urgent point is: Please remove the fact that every immortal becomes a rival, with every mortal being able to gain immortality, i am getting spammed by rival notifications, it's really bad.
Immortals already have a -100 opinion of other immortals. The rival just makes it that you get spammed by either new immortals, or rivals dying, which sometimes, you can get 3-4 rival pop ups at once....

My dreams of an immortal emperor shall live FOREVER even if it takes me an entire year in ck3 to get it.

Is there a way to get the immortal trait after doing the decision? Say if you're tired of the og character and would like to switch up for an heir
