Description
Relatively large update: I've added native navmeshes to the map! They're not guaranteed to be perfect and teleports will still break AI functionality, but you can now do NPC fights in the tower, or in the concrete maze, or wherever pretty much! Also, added a small comfy library somewhere.

Heads up, because people seem a little sensitive to these, there is exactly ONE jumpscare in this map related to an easter egg area. It serves as both a reference to one of my favorite games as well as a means to unstuck players that can't solve the puzzle to get out, since that particular portion of the map is actually fully disconnected from the rest if you don't solve that puzzle. Trying too many locked doors in that area, peering too long into the abyss, or taking too long can all trigger the scare. Also be careful noclipping in that area, specifically above a particular writer's room!

Alright, my "smaller" side project is finally done! gm_floatingisles is an abstract exploration map with a fair amount of weird places to wander into, plus a few secrets and easter eggs as well!

Everything needed to run the map should be present in the addon, if you have any issues let me know and I'll be sure to update this as needed.

This map does have one jumpscare as a reference to the little easter egg it takes place in. It also does have a handful of slightly spooky encounters. Likewise if you're somebody that likes to record map explorations there is 0 music in here that will ping any content ID systems since it's all mine lol. The map started as a simple test for doing 3d skyboxes and trying to make something a little more abstract, but slowly grew larger as time went on and I felt the urge to add areas.

Here's a brief list of all the bits in the map, I'll spoiler ones that I think should be:

  • Island lmao
  • Weird concrete architecture
  • My favorite HL2 skybox
  • Multiple areas to explore
  • Interactive environments
  • Chill ambient music
  • Rail system
  • Impossible geometry
  • A motel
  • A writer's study
  • Board for tracking connections between locations and teleports to those locations
  • RED
  • Another concrete maze
  • Dev room with some fun interactables!

Okay, I think that's it from me. Feel free to explore, the map's various areas are connected pretty heavily like most of my maps. This one should be a bit smaller than some of my other ones, but it might be a bit larger than expected!

EDIT:
Added in some missing textures and made the subway system a little more resilient and functional. Plus added some voice lines to that!

@aussie-_ The latest map has the animated texture packed in it, I've got it open on my steam deck right now which is a clean install and doesn't show a missing texture unfortunately.

Okay, sorry. I was just unhappy yesterday that I ran into a screamer again. (Although to be honest I guessed that it might be there and turned off the sound)
