Argus Light Carrier

"At the start of the war with the RBN the APF found itself lacking a large amount of dedicated carriers with only the 7 Avador class carriers and a handfull of Caladon Fighter tenders. As a stopgap solution while newer carriers were designed and built several under construction Damora Class Destroyers had their hull's lengthened to accommodate a new flight deck to hold 3 fighter craft. In exchange for 2 Main turrets and the railgun these destroyers became light carriers and were quickly deployed to reinforce the thinly stretched APF carrier force. The new light carriers proved a capable platform, while having only half the fighter compliment of an Avador class escort carrier they were quick and able to more effectively engage in combat alongside their strike craft thanks to being built off a destroyer hull and retaining some of its weapons. New light carriers would be converted off half built and battle damaged hulls throughout the war to continually bolster the strength of APF carrier forces even as new carriers became available."
