Just so you know, the word Pirates in Viking is Viking. So you might want to change the name of that unit. Call them Raiders or something else similar to pirates or vikings.
Often you'll find that guides or videos are referencing the wrong game name, this is because its the same process most of the time for all TW games. Also join a modding community on Discord too as you'll find people willing to give advice or help. I dont know the names of any for this game, I mod Warhammer TW series, although I'm not a unit modder tbh so wont be much help I'm afraid
There are also multiple videos on YT
and also on various sites.
You will need a programme called RPFM - easily found via google
Also download the software from the TW devs, which can be found in Steam - Library (just above the search bar for your games) and select software rather than games. It will show you all the software for the games you own provided by the devs (not every single game though, only a few actually release these such as TW)
Through RPFM and the TW software for this game, you'll be able to create new generals, units, etc
