Description

Removes the worst creature included in Elithian Races, the Faryth, from spawning on Lush worlds.

If you think you need this mod, you need this mod. These creatures are absolutely terrible to deal with during the early game. Unfortunately, due to limitations of the engine, this only takes effect on newly generated Lush planets. Still, I have successfully removed these utter pests, so the next time you visit a Lush world, you can breathe out a sigh of relief.

Don't worry - I'm well aware that there's a quest requiring you to kill them and collect their scales. Not only do they still spawn on Forest planets, but I have adjusted their treasure pools so they will now always drop scales, on top of giving you pixels or bone or some secret third thing. If you kill them with a bow, they may even drop two scales! I hope you enjoy.

  • Aegonian for creating the original mod.

  • patman for explaining to me how biome spawn pools actually work. We also looked into the spawntypes file Elithain patches into, but the entire file is an array, so, no, I'm not reducing their spawn rates, thanks.

  • Each and every one of you amazing, incredible people out there. Thank you for still using my mods, even six years after I began.

so i looked into the issue with faryth spawning on forest planets. it is not an problem with my mod - it's actually an issue with elithian races that my mod made more obvious by proxy of causing those spawns to be more important.

the faryth is patched into a vanilla enemy spawn group. this is an array containing eight enemies, of which only one will be selected per forest biome. each enemy has a weight of 0.111, meaning they have a roughly equal chance to be chosen.

this means that the faryth, in default elithian races, not accounting for any other mods, has a 1/9 chance to be chosen per forest planet. it's even rarer if any other mods also add creatures to this same array.

to fix this, i went ahead and patched the forest biome so faryths are a guaranteed spawn, which i've just pushed out as an update now. this will only work on newly-generated forest planets.

it's cute

idk how monster spawning works, but even without this mod, I sometimes used to get forests and lush without faryth spawning - I was once very unlucky and had to search through more than five planets to get one that spawns them

but I never played with elithian mod only and don't know if faryth are supposed to spawn everywhere by default
(maybe one of mods in my mod list was already touching it somewhat)

I am on a fresh universe, and haven't yet leave my starter lush planet, so idk if my mod collection actually works (testing slowly), but there is no faryth here thankfully on my lush starter, and I am super grateful for that

i'm not sure what to tell you, that just shouldn't be happening. i specifically patched garden.biome to check for any instance of "faryth" in the spawn pool, and removed it if it was present. i did not do this with forest.biome, so if they are not spawning there, it has nothing to do with my mod.

can you visit a forest, walk through it for a while, and then send a copy of you starbound.log? i want to see if they're not spawning because of an error in their monstertype file, which is the only reason i could think of causing it to consistently fail to spawn in all biomes.

Well then there has to be an incompatibility somewhere, because literally 0 are spawning anywhere.
AnomNom  [author] 28 Mar @ 8:02pm
it does not. i did not touch their spawns in forest biomes, only in lush biomes.

Which, would be fine by me, if not for them having significance in multiple quests...

I think this mod removes them from EVERYWHERE. I've been on plenty of forest planets and haven't seen a single one.

Holy crap, thank you! I hate those stupid things...

it's not like these things are hard to fight, they're just ANNOYING to deal with so this is a great mod
