Description
This is a model replacement for models/chefhat.mdl from HL2.

Why this model specifically? Because when npc_citizen_insignia 1 is set, the player's NPC squad will be given little hats. Valve was apparently playing with giving the squad NPCs some form of model identifier, but only got as far as a testing stage using the chef hat as a placeholder[github.com].

By default, the NPCs will have little chef hats. While it works, it's not exactly fitting. The angle of the "hat" model is also not consistent, as it will change angle based on the player's view angles. This effectively eliminates being able to add fixed-angle headwear like helmets.

This little spinning logo is the icon of the resistance from Generation Zero. This should allow you to know at a glance who's in your squad.

I would recommend setting npc_citizen_auto_player_squad 0, player_squad_transient_commands 0 & npc_citizen_auto_player_squad_allow_use 1 as well. This will allow you to add/remove NPCs from your squad on command.
