Level Apple

Description
A level where all the clues are in Japanese! This is designed for people who do not know Japanese, or know a small amount. If you're fluent, most of the puzzles are very easy, but maybe it'll be fun to look at.

If you don't know Japanese, all the characters you need are taught to you within the level. You'll likely want to take notes of some sort unless you have a very good memory of shapes.

Requirements: You should know all the colors from the base game, up to and including cream. They will not be taught in the map.

Beginner Friendliness: No custom colors. One custom height, which can be learned within the level.

Difficulty: The puzzles themselves aren't usually hard, but remembering what each shape means probably will be. Take plenty of notes or have a good memory.

Length: 700 panels, though time taken will vary drastically between people. The scoreboard is kind of finicky so you might have to reload the level to see your true panel count.

Notes:
  • All answers are either English letters or numbers. You do not have to enter Japanese characters ever.
  • If you come across a character you don't know and can't guess from context clues, it might be taught elsewhere in the map.
  • If you want to take notes (or cheat) searching for "<white block answer>" #kanji on https://jisho.org/ should bring up the character to copy paste.

    Hints:
  • If you managed to get through the whole game without realizing this, there's a built-in way to get hints. Press caps lock, or insert, and one letter of the answer will be revealed to you. Map makers can disable this functionality but it works on most of the puzzles in this level.
  • White blocks are slightly different. After the tutorial, there's a room that tries to teach you that white bottom can be implied on kanji clues. This means that a white middle can either be a white middle, or a white bottom -> white middle, making bottom and middle effectively the same. This is mainly to save space so I don't have to chain a white bottom to every puzzle.
  • The custom height is lower-middle. It means look at the kanji itself and derive something from it.
  • The easiest path is probably Brown -> Black -> Red -> Green -> Blue
  • For more hints, check out the Lingo discord, where this level has a thread in the custom-maps forum.

A bit difficult for me, perhaps because I didn't take notes; but this level is clever, fun, AND educational!
