Description
Ah! You found yourself a hunter!

An outsider entering the streets of Yharnam on the night of the hunt, the Paleblood Hunter is a stance switch sword fighter who switches their trick weapon, the Beast Cutter, between its solid club mode and its segmented whip mode to control the flow of battle on the fly. They excel at aggressively running people over with strong disjointed normals and forcing big openings for high damage. However, their toolkit as a whole is committal in both stances and he is forced to take larger commitments to switch stances safely, which combined with their low weight make them be fairly risky to play. If you are willing to accept the old blood of Yharnam and go and kill a few beasts, then the Paleblood Hunter will be there to tear apart the competition.

Main Gimmick: Trick Weapon
The Hunter can swap between their weapon's 2 forms of the Beast Cutter by pressing Nspecial, switching between Club mode and Whip mode. The Club mode is more effective at closer ranges, sporting quicker attacks with shorter range as well as some more devastating kill moves. The Whip mode, however, sports truly monstrous range on all of its attacks while still having strong combo potential, making it excellent at a distance. Pressing the special button during tilts or aerials will cause the Hunter to perform a Trick Attack that automatically transitions them between stances, allowing them to switch more freely than they would be able to otherwise.

Additional Gimmick: Quicksilver Bullets
The Hunter has a limited salvo of bullets that they expend whenever they perform certain attacks (Fspecial, Dspecial, Uspecial , Trick Attacks, and Dstrong). Trying to perform those moves with no bullets available will prevent them from performing most attacks and will make them go into pratfall after Uspecial. Pressing Taunt cause them to generate 5 bullets from their veins, causing them to 10% self damage in the process. They also regain 3 Quicksilver Bullets every time they land a visceral attack, performed by pressing Fstrong while near a parry stunned opponent.

Special Moves
Nspecial:Trick Weapon / Trick Attack – The Hunter switches between the Beast Cutter’s Club and Whip mode on the spot. Pressing the special button during the endlag of their tilts or aerials will cause them to perform a Trick Attack, an additional melee attack which switches modes while doing so. Doing a Trick Attack costs 3 Quicksilver Bullets to perform. There are 4 different variants to the trick attack, with each providing additional utility to their moveset.
  • Club -> Whip Ground – The Hunter performs a large lashing attack with the whip, which functions as a weaker version of their Whip Fstrong. Sports massive range but is very slow and telegraphed.
  • Whip -> Club Ground – The Hunter raises the Beast Cutter upwards and then slams it into the ground, acting as the fastest and strongest followup of them all. Useful as a combo ender off of tilts to secure a kill or as a deterrent towards slow punish attempts.
  • Club -> Whip Air – The Hunter unfurls the Beast Cutter and performs a large arcing slash with it, stalling in the air in the process. This move sports huge range but requires proper spacing to get the best reward out of it, making it an effective mid range deterrent and poking option.
  • Whip -> Club Air – The Hunter rears back before diving diagonally downwards with the Beast Cutter, slamming it into the ground on impact. A stall and fall with a strong forward trajectory, it is useful as a combo ender, an escape tool, or as a recovery aid.

Fspecial: Hunter Pistol - The Hunter fires a shot from their gun. The projectile on its own isn’t particularly strong and can be avoided by most characters just by crouching. However, if the opponent is hit by the bullet during the startup of an attack, they will be put into parry stun for a potential followup. This costs 1 Quicksilver Bullet to perform.

Dspecial: Madaras Whistle - The Hunter blows an odd whistle, summoning a massive snake out from the background which bites any players who walk into it, dealing massive damage and launching for a followup. However, snake can damage both players, so do take care to get away from its jaws quickly. This costs 2 Quicksilver Bullets to perform.

Uspecial: Old Hunter Bone -The hunter clasps on a bone of an old hunter before dashing in a puff of smoke. An 8 directional air dash move that doesn’t sport a hitbox but travels a good amount of distance while not putting you into pratfall. This costs 3 Quicksilver Bullets to perform without going into pratfall.

All I can hope is that the changes I made to whip stance didn't push it over the edge towards being too stupid :3

the general consensus from the workshop comp players was that whip stance was noticeably worse than club stance, to the point where there was no reason to go for it 90% of the time. there were some matchups where having the bigger ranged normals was nice, but most of the time you'd rather have the stance with faster, safer, better coverage, higher kill power normals and use Fspecial as your direct range threat

Finally, a big update! Thank you for finally "fixing" the fspecial, and most changes are things I agree with... Until the whip. It was already a monstrous weapon, having range, damage and "easy" combos, and you buffed it? I really don't understand that decision. Hope there are more updates, and more fromsoft workshop to come.

Hey there! I hope it's not much of me to ask, but I'd love to see a Darkest Dungeon palette of this character aswell, with the Highwayman! Would be pretty fun to see,

@Saket its explained in the showcase video linked here on the steam page, but the reason for the Beast Cutter is A. It has a very distinct variation between the movesets of the two weapons and B. It's my personal favorite weapon in Bloodborne, so I was biased :3
