Fishing in Gulf of Mexico, Russian fleet in Cuba, 2024

Description
Note: This scene is based on recent events and is not authentic.

In mid-June 2024, Russia announced that it would send a flotilla to Cuba for a visit, including a cruise missile nuclear submarine and a frigate, both armed with Zircon hypersonic missiles.

On 18 June, the Russian fleet left Cuba and headed northwest into the Gulf of Mexico. During this time, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that a large area of the eastern Gulf of Mexico would be designated as an exercise area and live-fire drills would be conducted. This move greatly angered the United States government, the United States Navy and Coast Guard forces were ordered into the so-called drill area to confront Russian ships.

However, worryingly for the US, they had earlier lost track of the Kazan cruise missile nuclear submarine. The US forecast that the Kazan had probably made it deep into the Gulf of Mexico, casting another huge shadow over the standoff......

[This is an early Beta Version for testing and improvement]

@caeales

The fact is that we haven't seen Zircon intercepted so far (or even AS-4 Kitchen), its real power is still a mystery. You may try the HAWC‘s effect, I believe it will be similar.

The minimum interception altitude of the SM-3 is much higher than the Zircon's cruising altitude, so perhaps the SM-6 Blk IB should be turned to

Wow, if the Zircon is really this powerful, is could turn the balance of power, but I doubt it, especially since there other hyper sonic weapons have not been so great in Ukraine.

Also, I could imagine SM-3 would be a good missile to intercept it. Correct me if i'm wrong.

@Nikolay Ushakov Nope, cauz Russian side is way too easy to sink most US assets. There is little point in playing the Russian side.

Are both factions playable?

Oops, seems like the String of Pearls Maldives is on CMO Forum rather than here.

I would also like to add that the reason for setting it "neutral" instead of "unfriendly" is to avoid the "irrational" actions of units based on the mechanics of the game. I'm sure you and other players can understand why I'm doing this.

@Half life Expert

It was a pleasure to meet our friends from the CMO forum and thank you very much for putting forward these suggestions and questions in such detail.

I must admit, the scene was really rough, as I was just trying to "keep up with current events" and "do as well as I can under limited circumstances" with my "limited energy." If you look through other works of my workshop, for example: String of Peral: Maldives and regular cruising in Kinmen (see here, you probably know which one I am on the forum :)), you will find that the effects you want to show have been achieved by me in other places with some special mechanics. I might consider adding details, but that depends a lot on my interest and energy (I have a lot on my hands these days, just like our dear development team). The subsequent improvement work, forced by the changes in reality, seems to be far away.

Finally, thank you for your feedback.

Lastly, perhaps a few USAF, ANG or USN combat aircraft can be added, with the purpose being to "return the favor" by making low level buzzing of the Russian ships, in response to what Russian A/C have been doing to US ships for years.

The strength of a scenario like this, in my opinion, should be the tension of the standoff/hunt. When hostilities started, it was short and bloody. I feel that the scenario should instead be structured around having the possibility that battle may or may NOT happen. Finally, the "missiles launched" message doesn't seem to be accompanied by an actual launch. Perhaps rework the exact wording/context of hostilities starting.
