Frackin' Universe Tweaked Story

Description
If you are tired of boring collecting clues around the universe, but want an alternative for skipping story.
If you want better reason of visiting Frackin' Universe's side missions.
If you want a challenge.
This mod is for you!

Introduction:
A simple mod that merges Frackin' Universe's and the vanilla main quests to create a more fun and challenging experience.
Instead of simply collecting clues around the universe, you will have to dive deep into Frackin' Universe's research system, craft unique and specific items, traverse planets and the dangers that lurk below the surface, farm powerful mobs and complete the many missions that were delegated to side quests before. This way, you can thoroughly explore Frackin' Universe while working towards the extended questline to destroy the Ruins - but be wary: even vanilla content might have a trick up its sleeve.

Fair warning:
This mod isn't easy and will provide a challenge to beat the game.

What the mod adds:
  • 10 simple new quests
  • Reused 6 of FU's quests as part of the main story line
  • Slightly modified cutscenes
  • The Ruins "planet" now generates randomly and has its size increased
  • Reworked The Ruins quest completely (adding new goals and new obstacles)
  • Increased difficulty for The Ruins to Tier 7
  • Increased damage for the The Ruins' laser (oneshot)

If you accidentally lose a quest item, you always can rebuy it from the "Lost and Found" cat-girl NPC in the Science Outpost.
If you play in Multiplayer most of the quest items can be shared after finishing the quest. The original item will be consumed and transformed into a "Fake Item", which also counts as a quest's objective. No need to worry about crafting/gathering more than needed for a quest.

Possible conflicts:
  • Conflict with any main quest changing mods
  • May conflict with mods that change The Ruins (the boss of the quest itself)
  • Logical conflicts with "You are NOT a Protector" (not critical, but immersion-breaking)

Approved compatibility:
  • Quest Manager Optimizer (FU)
  • Ruin Overhaul

Uninstallation:
Warning: Do not uninstall the mod if any player has an active quest which requires a Quest Item to finish it. Complete the quest first, and then try to uninstall the mod.

Misc:
I would like to say a huge thank you to the creators of the Frackin' Universe. Without this amazing mod Starbound would not be so fun and interesting to play!

SPOILER ALERT
If you already finished the quest line of the mod, please leave a feedback about the mini-boss in this small poll.[smartpolls.co.uk]

Some tips and help with quests:
If you have any issues with the quest "Cyborg Hunt":
To deliver the Miniknog A.I. Chip you must find and kill the Fatal Circuit (or its another model) - a big yellow robot with the brain in a jar in the head. You can often find this robot on Cybersphere planets, as well as in the huge pyramid-like green laboratories, which can be found on the same type of planet.

If you have any issues with the quest "Alien Broadcast":
To deliver the Alien Broadcast Node you must finish the "Evernight Jungle" mission and get it as a reward. To find the map to the the location you should check any mini structures on Bog planets, or a big structure called "A fungal den" on certain planets.

If you have any issues with the quest "The Ancient Texts":
To deliver the Ancient Texts you need to craft them. But beforehand you need to research the crafting recipe in the Metaphysics research tree (Dark Matter - Tier 3). The most difficult part is to find an Elder Tome for this recipe. Some Elder-style mini-structures can contain one. But a more stable way is hunting down Shadow Golem/Brute, beasts that live in Lightless or Shadow Moons. They drop all kinds of elder stuff you may want to use, as well as Elder Tome.

If you have any issues with the quest "We need to prepare":
To deliver the Ancient Remote you must finish the "Brine Star" mission and get it as a reward. The Map to this place can be found at the top of the huge ancient-like tower containing many trials / traps. It's usually identified as "Unknown Alien Ruins".

If you have any issues with the quest "The Ruins" ("Opening the Ark"):
Firstly, this is now a Tier 7 Planet - you need to be prepared. Do not dig down to the core immediately, but instead explore the surface to seek and destroy beacon-heart-towers that protect the depths of the planet. Beware: The Ruins will have a strong guardian protecting the final tower. Do not try to escape it, as it will follow you anywhere! The rest of the mission is the same.

[OUTDATED]
If you have any issues with the quest "The Purple Hood":
To deliver the Cultist Cowl you must first to craft it. The recipe is locked by default, but you can farm its schematic from the unique cthulhu-like monster in the Eldritch Field minibiomes. As an alternative, you can find the recipe and craft it using the Elder Altar.

Well, anyway, the number of items I need to get has been reduced by 1/4. I'll have to try the NPC merchant next time I play.

Version 1.0.5.1
Changed the Eye of Yokar quest to something less tedious. If you already have the old quest active, the new one will not override it sadly. You have to deal with it on your own or cheat the item "eyeofyokar" (it would be still more fair if you would at least craft Ancient Texts)
Thank you for notifications you all and good luck~

Thank you for keeping this mod up to date.

Regarding the Eye of Yokar, if I recall correctly you should be able to set up a room to spawn a merchant that will sell a random assortment of elder items once you get a crafting station or two set up. I tend to run my base with each crafting area segmented into rooms with colonists to generate resources.

I vaguely remember attempting to hunt down enemies to spawn these items on a playthrough and then realized you can just remove and replace the deed to reset the merchant and what items they sell. Been a while since I ran this mod or Frackin in general, but as I was getting back to give it another go figured this might be relevant in the meantime.

@Boooo, yeah I know. And the Eye of Yokar intended to be easier quest than was before, but geez, I made a huge mistake. I am sorry for inconvenience >.>'
I am working on the patch for making this quest much easier.

To get the 4 Elder Artifact Materials (including the Crafting Table) for the Eye of Yokar, the easiest way is to hunt a type of monster that spawns in the Shadow Moon, which has a 1/67 chance of dropping. I had to hunt for 6 hours with a 2700% drop rate in Mayhem Mode. All of this happens because the order of the quest prevents you from visiting Delta Freya 2.

@xaq, unfortunately even if I will update the quest to the new version, your current one will remain same. So if you can't deal with it just cheat the item "eyeofyokar"
And it's fine. I really appreciate feedback, and when it is important I change stuff and fix issues to make gameplay more fun.

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out with my problem. And seriously, don't ever feel like you have to apologize. Your mods have added so much to the game for all of us. Without your creativity and hard work, we'd be missing out on a whole lot of fun. Looking forward to seeing what awesome things you come up with next!
