Description
This mod contains an updated version of tbmalloc.dll, which could potentially improve game's performance and stability for some users, or make the game crash for others. Use at your own risk.

Most likely incompatible with Linux / Mac versions of the game.

INSTALLATION

Unlike most XCOM 2 mods, this mod requires additional manual installation.

1. Just in case, create a backup of your original tbmalloc.dll, which is located at:

For vanilla XCOM 2:
..\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\Binaries\Win64\tbmalloc.dll

For XCOM 2 War of the Chosen:
..\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\Binaries\Win64\tbmalloc.dll

2. Subscribe to this mod and wait for Steam to download it.

3. Copy the tbmalloc.dll from this mod's folder to your game installation folder, replacing the original file:
..\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\3151611447\tbmalloc.dll

4. Optionally, you can unsubscribe from this mod at this point.

You can also download the new version of tbmalloc.dll from Google Drive[drive.google.com] (Backup Link[drive.google.com])

DEINSTALLATION

Use the backup tbmalloc.dll to replace the new file or verify game's assets through Steam.

The name stands for Threading Building Blocks Memory Allocation Dynamic Link Library. In simple terms, it's a file that contains code used by the game to request memory from your operating system. Supposedly the newer version of the library contains various improvements that optimize this process.

Is this mod dangerous?

VirusTotal scan[www.virustotal.com] found no threats.

Still, use at your own risk. In theory, using the new .DLL may reduce stability and performance. In that case you can just revert to the older version of the file.

Reporting in on Linux, this works with seemingly no issues and does seem to help performance particularly on the tactical layer.

I tried this dll mod and when installed the game would just instantly crash and refuse to launch. Game launches just fine after removal.

So odd that LWOTC playable aliens doesn't like this mod, I wonder why?

Lol, Aceboy, I had the EXACT SAME ISSUE this week. Installed Win11 fresh with some new hardware only to find nothing would fix msvcr100.dll missing errors in trying to launch XCOM2. Glad we both fixed it the same way there and others can make use of that info.

@Iridar Thanks. Found that there are several different versions. The only one that works is the 14.44.35112. Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable.

Can confirm that this "mod" doesn't work with LWOTC Playable Aliens. The game just launches forever
