Weapons Trump Hands

In 1 collection by Lawh
Kenshi à la Lawh

Description
Holding onto a weapon is better than no weapon, unless your hand-to-hand skill is higher than the default weapon bonuses. This is to simulate benefits of having a weapon over not having one or not being able to use one.

(Does not affect weapons from other mods)

If you need more accurate info, I can help you out with a step-by-step.

It's real simple. Depending on how many weapons those mods add, you might have to click and type a bunch of times, but you have to change some values and you're set. You can use your own discretion.

+6 for any weapon in defense and offence, no matter what. +12 for long weapons. -12 as indoors penalty for long weapons. -6 for average ones, and 0 for short weapons like daggers or wakizashi type weapons.

You can edit those values directly if you know how to put Workshop mods into the editor, although any updates will makes things annoying. What you can do is merge the mod into a new mod, and then make the changes. This way if there is an update to the weapon mods, it shouldn't break anything. One thing I have not tested out properly is whether the new mod will take the entire weapon or only the changes you have made. Putting it below the main mod in the mod list should test that out.

Might hafta hit you up for a tutorial on how to make a weapon patch mod for my handful of modded weapons to keep them balanced.

Yeah weapon length will help a little in fights, although it doesn't take that much skill to overcome the advantage. I will look into whether I should balance things out a little bit more, but for now you should be able to take down someone equal to yourself, if you have a long weapon like a polearm or staff, and they have a regular weapon.

Sounds like this will help nerf MA a little bit and also help UC conscripts handle paladins since samurai katanas aren't much use against them.

It's a really simple mod. It changes the bonuses of all weapons. As an example, every weapon now has positive defensive bonus, rather than a negative one.

Base bonus for having a weapon is 6 to both attack and defense, right now. Might change once I look into it more. Penalties for large weapons indoors is higher, and there is more of an increase for fists and small weapons indoors. Longer weapons have better reach and thus they have better stats than shorter ones. Thus you have to be better at fighting than the opposition is with a longer weapon. Two equal opponents, one with a longer weapon will probably beat someone with a very short weapon.

What does this do exactly? Sounds like it might be interesting.
