Steam Workshop Language Packs
By Sparky-Jason
Thanks for your interest in community-based translations for Mind Over Magic. We are just getting started with this support and will continue to evolve the system by improving the tools, adding additional fonts as required, and fixing UI issues and text that isn’t setup for translation properly.

This guide is to help with using existing Language Packs and provides instructions for creating your own.

Using a Language Pack
1. Launch Mind Over Magic

2. Click on "Translations"

3. Click on "Steam Workshop"

4. Subscribe to the Language Pack you want to try.

5. Return to the game and select the Language Pack.

Creating a Language Pack
1. Prepare by downloading and installing POEdit[poedit.net]

2. Start the game, enter Settings and “Enable Translation Tool”

3. Click the on the “Create Translation” button on the top level menu.

4. Set your working folder for managing your translation files.
You can also open the folder from here for convenient access.

5. Select the language you would like to support.
If your language isn’t listed, please let us know. However, we aren’t currently supporting right-to-left languages.

6. Update or Create the po files from the English source files.
This is the process used to refresh your po files as well.

7. Open the po files (content.po and code.po) created or updated in your working folder and translate using poedit.
Note: You should preserve the following:
- Argument tags in the form {0}; however, you may change the order with the translated text as needed.
- Tags surrounded by <>, such as <slink=BloodMagic>. In this case, BloodMagic is a keyword used to lookup text elsewhere and should not be translated.
- New line characters (\n).

8. When you are ready to test your changes, convert your po files to the yaml the game expects.
This will also run some validation on your changes.

9. To test your changes, you can do so directly. From the Translations options, select the “Local Edit Version”.
You may need to restart the game to pick up a newly added Edit Language. The game should now reflect your changes.

10. To upload your files to the Steam Workshop, you will first need to have created a Steam Workshop Pack.
Doing so will attempt to open a browser to your newly created item. This is where you will manage any changes you want such as Title, Description, the image, etc.
