Kirbo

Based on TerminalMontage's Something About series, Kirbo enters the fray to spread the word of God to the land of Aether! Kirbo is a straightforward close quarters fighter who specializes in strong combos and grabs. Sporting a good variety of solid close quarters tools and strong kill options, he is a dangerous character to let get close to you, and his small stature and great aerial mobility can make him difficult to intercept. However, Kirbo is incredibly stubby and has next to no tools to deal with zoning or large pokes outside of high-risk options, making him have to struggle to get in to do much of anything.

Kirbo has a Divine Charge meter which fills automatically over the span of 20 seconds as long as Kirbo doesn’t get hit. He can speed up this charge by using his Dspecial, which can be held to generate between half a second to 4 seconds worth of charge once you release the button. Once the meter is full, pressing Dspecial will instead perform Savior’s Power , firing off a fast traveling, high damage, transcendent projectile that launches opponents back to Kirbo on hit. Shooting off this projectile instantly drains the meter to 0 and it has high endlag, so… don’t miss.

Kirbo attempts to suck up any opponents or projectiles in front of him, spitting them back out shortly after doing so. A fast, holdable command grab that works nicely as a combo starter/extender or as an anti-projectile tool if you’re quick on the draw. Inhaling opponents or projectiles generates 2 seconds worth of Divine Charge, making it worth going for it to help expedite building the meter.

Kirbo leaps forward to try and grab his opponent, slapping them around a bunch if he successfully reaches them. A leaping command grab that works nicely as a recovery tool, mid-range punish or as a combo finisher. The move does not beat projectiles and goes into pratfall if you whiff it, so be careful about throwing it out recklessly.

Kirbo farts out a warp star and then rides it upwards. A fairly alright vertical recovery move that sports a strong sweetspot right as he farts out the star which, while difficult to line up and dangerous to whiff due to the move’s long duration, is very rewarding to land as a finisher.
